Q: I have a C/K 1500 Chevrolet pickup that the heater motor will not come on every time .?
I have checked the relays and replaced the resistor with no help. It seem like early of the morning when things are cooler it won’t always come on driving with air coming through it will after a while. Some day not at all. Is there another temp sensor in the system?
A: If you can get to the heater switch, with the ignition on, take a wire and jump across the switch, if the motor runs (Repeat 2 or 3 times) then it may be just a bad switch. if that doesn’t work put power directly to the motor. if that doesn’t work, with power still to the motor use the “jumper wire” to ground the motor. If still not working the motor windings may be bad and you need a new/rebuilt motor.
Q: Horsepower of a 5.7 liter 1988 Chevy C/K 1500?
5.7 liter 1988 Chevrolet C/K 1500 stepside, says 80 mph on the speedometer, whats the horsepower produced, torque, and approximate 0-60 for this truck?
A: IIRC 205 HP, 290 ft lbs, and the 0-60 time is gonna be NO where close to the other answer you got. More like 10 sec. 0-60 due to the heavy weight of the truck and kinda low HP
Q: Question about Chevrolet C/K Pickup?
I have a 1992 C/K pickup…1500 if it matters. Anybody who knows a thing or two observes that the grill style is different from that of one 1994 year model or higher. Mine is flat and makes it look like a grampa truck. I was wondering if these grills are interchangeble? i do think they are but is there any modifications involved? or can i just throw it on and go? PS i’m wanting to put a 94-98 grill style on it.
A: You will have to change the grille, grille shell, lower filler panel, and bumper brackets.
Q: How much Horsepower does my truck have?
i drive a 1989 Chevrolet scottsdale 1500 c/k series, it has a 5.7 liter, 350 V-8 engine
A: Wow, Ken and John, I just don’t know what to say.
1989350, TBI, 9.8:1 compression, 195 HP @ 4200 RPM, 295 FT LBS @ 2400 RPM, vin code 7
And KEN.. That is brake power (BHP)
All the word “brake” means is that the engine was loaded, not free reving against a dyno when tested.
Very big diff in BHP and RWHP or WHP.. Where RWHP or WHP stands for rear wheel or wheel horse power..
Engine dynos test the HP at the crankshaft of engine..
Chassis dynos test HP at the driven wheels.
You loose 15-20% of HP through the drivetrain
Q: How do I use a multimeter to diagnose a problem with my blinkers and brake lights?
I have a 1998 c/k 1500 chevrolet pick up truck.
The blinkers and brake lights have been acting weird. At first just the brake lights and back blinkers went out. After having a guy at a parts store look at it all blinkers are out now. Even inside of the truck I have no lights blinking. Still no brake lights.
Long story short is I have a problem. I know I can use a multimeter/voltmeter to isolate the problem I just don’t know where to start. What do I set the meter to? Where do I start on the truck?
Any info on this would help alot. Thanks in advance.
A: it would take me too long to guide you through how to completely diagnose using a DVOM, so I’ll just cover some of the normal causes of this problem….
It indeed sounds like a multifunction switch problem. The multifunction switch is the switch that houses your turn signals, hazards, wipers, and cruise control. Your brake light circuits do run through this switch.
With your key on, lightly manipulate your hazard switch, and if your lights start working, you can bet that the multifunction switch is the culprit.
Obviously, make sure the auto parts guy didn’t remove your flasher, then forget to put it back in.
Sometimes, the taillamp modules fail, and have to be replaced. (the module is what you plug your bulbs into). And sometimes, the ground wire for the rear lamp wiring harness is broken or not grounded on the frame, causing only the rear lamps not to work….
good luck….
Q: Truck lifting Questionn?
I have a 1998 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Pickup and i want to get it lifted. How much does it cost to get it lifted if you do it by yourself and if you get someone else to do it? And I was also wanting some new rims but i’m not sure what size to get. any opinions?
thank you:)
and about how much do new tires cost?
I’m sure i could ask my dad this but idk oh well lol :]
A: A 6″ suspension lift will run you back about 1500$. A 3″ body lift would cost about 300$-400$$. The suspension lift would probably take about 3-4 hours of professional installation time and the body would probably take a little more. The time installing mostly depends on how co-operative the vehicle is as bolts stick and break and somethings just don’t work right.
Along with the lift you may feel the desire to put on bigger tires and with that comes rubbing issues. You may want to get rims with a different backspacing.

1. Honda Civic
2. Toyota Camry
3. Honda Accord
4. Dodge Caravan
5. Chevrolet C/K 1500
6. Ford F-150
7. Dodge Ram Pickup
8. Acura Integra
9. Toyota Pickup
10. Nissan Sentra

Doesn’t seem to make *ahem* (common) sense
Thank you
A: The appearance of being easy to steal is what is attractive to thieves. Stealing a nice car with a GPS tracking device like OnStar means the thief will be found, and quickly.
It’s actually very good common sense to take something that won’t be easily located and sell off the parts from a chop shop.
Q: how can i get better gas mileage?
i drive a 1989 Chevrolet scottsdale 1500 c/k series (it only has 87500 miles on it), it has a 5.7 liter, 350 V-8 engine, i have a 30 gallon gas tank, my spark plugs are in decent shape, my air filter is almost as good as a K&N (i have a carburetor of course), and i’ve run engine cleaner through the gas tank and engine which helped a little bit, but what else can i do to improve my gas milage (and horsepower if possible), but mainly gas milage, if you need any other details just ask. Best answer will be chosen!
i’ve also had an oil change pretty recently, and my tires are pressurized correctly, i check them pretty often
it also has an automatic transmission, and i don’t know if this is helpful but i have a toolbox in back too
A: drive it like you have a raw egg between your foot and the gas pedal
