Q: What kind of 5 speed manual transmission comes in a 1995 chevrolet c/k 2500 4×4?
i have a 1995 chevy 4×4 3/4 ton with a 5 speed manual i cant seem to figure out how to determine what kind of transmission i have

A: I think it is a NV4500 but not positive.

Q: I have a C/K 1500 Chevrolet pickup that the heater motor will not come on every time .?
I have checked the relays and replaced the resistor with no help. It seem like early of the morning when things are cooler it won’t always come on driving with air coming through it will after a while. Some day not at all. Is there another temp sensor in the system?

A: If you can get to the heater switch, with the ignition on, take a wire and jump across the switch, if the motor runs (Repeat 2 or 3 times) then it may be just a bad switch. if that doesn’t work put power directly to the motor. if that doesn’t work, with power still to the motor use the “jumper wire” to ground the motor. If still not working the motor windings may be bad and you need a new/rebuilt motor.

Q: What size rim can i put on 1997 Chevrolet C/K pickup?

A: from 15in to 22in without any problems, 23 or 24s you might have to do some trimming inside the fenders, and your ride will be rough because the tires will be short 30-45 series

Q: I have a 1995 Chevrolet C/K 2500 and the ABS light will not turn off, once the truck is turned on?

A: Faulty sensor?
Brake problem?
Wiring problem?
I had a Dodge with the brake light not going off, turned out to be a speed sensor…

Q: what kind of transmission comes in a 1995 chevrolet c/k 2500 4×4?

A: that would be a 4L80E

Q: 1985 CHEVROLET C/K 10 SERIES K10 will be 2WD or 4WD or can you go back and fourth from one another?

A: only the k10 is 4wd, it will come with either auto front hubs or aftermarket manual front hubs. it is no problem to shift from 2wd to 4wd high or 4wd low range.

we have an 85k10 turbo diesel and love it (we’ve owned it for 14 years) over the years we have added lots of aftermarket up grades including limited slip/electric lockers f/r, rear disk brakes, and 6.5 diesel engine.

parts are very available and the truck is easy to work on.

hope this helps

Q: Question about Chevrolet C/K Pickup?
I have a 1992 C/K pickup…1500 if it matters. Anybody who knows a thing or two observes that the grill style is different from that of one 1994 year model or higher. Mine is flat and makes it look like a grampa truck. I was wondering if these grills are interchangeble? i do think they are but is there any modifications involved? or can i just throw it on and go? PS i’m wanting to put a 94-98 grill style on it.

A: You will have to change the grille, grille shell, lower filler panel, and bumper brackets.

Q: questions about Chevrolet c/k automatic hubs????? HELP!!!?
Can you convert a 90’s chevy c/k pick-up from auto hubs to manual locking hubs????? I love the 90’s era chevy c/k pick-ups but i hate the fact that they have automatic locking hubs because auto hubs are very unreliable, so is it possible to replace the auto hubs with manual locking hubs, if so how expensive is it to convert to manual locking hubs on a chevy pick-up

A: Warn hubs run about 150 here in canada. It sure saves gas.

Q: Horsepower of a 5.7 liter 1988 Chevy C/K 1500?
5.7 liter 1988 Chevrolet C/K 1500 stepside, says 80 mph on the speedometer, whats the horsepower produced, torque, and approximate 0-60 for this truck?

A: IIRC 205 HP, 290 ft lbs, and the 0-60 time is gonna be NO where close to the other answer you got. More like 10 sec. 0-60 due to the heavy weight of the truck and kinda low HP

Q: ideal audio setup for 73-87 c/k pickups?
i have a 1977 chevrolet k30 reg. cab that i would like to put a subwoofer in under the seat, because i don’t want to sacrifice the space behind the seat. any suggestions?

i also want to get the polk SR series 6.5 inch component system system. where should the speakers be installed for best performance?

thanks in advance.

A: Maybe 8″ lucky to fit a 10″ there. Go with like 300watts for the small truck. That should make you gets some “wow’s” and i think only two speakers in the front doors.

Q: Where can I find tail light cables?
I own a 1989 Chevrolet c/k series pickup truck. The tail light cable connected to the circuit board that the bulbs are plugged into on the driver side has a short and needs to be replaced. Where online can I find a website that has the cable I need? I have searched all over and cannot find the cable online. I have even contacted local businesses in my area and they can’t get them either.

Please help me…

Thank you.

A: if the dealer no longer carries them, then there is a reasonably good chance that they will be difficult to find online.

when in doubt, check the junk yard.

in the past i have dealt with some junk yards that were able to send parts to me. sorry, i don’t remember their name, or phone.

Q: Is the Chevrolet Truck road wheel the same as the Chrysler full size road wheel?
I have noticed something that I’d like to verify. The 70s-80s Chevy c-10/ GMC c/k truck oem road wheel looks just like the 70s-80s Chrysler full size (300,imperial,Cordoba, sport fury(Plymouth), Monaco(dodge)) road wheel. Are they? the only difference I noticed was the trim rings and the center cap. Is this the same wheel? and if so can they be interchanged? Thank You

A: wheels

Q: Any good Auto-Mechanic sites that teach you everything about auto-mechanics?
Hey i would like to know of any sites with good Auto-Mechanics education and such, and if possible also if there are any sites that can teach me about the mechanics of a 1978 Chevrolet C/K pickup

A: the best lesson you can ever get on that vehicle is to buy a repair manual on it and read the whole book ,haynes makes the vest manual on those vehicles and by the time you get done you,ll know what each size bolt is that holds it together, there really isn’t any sites that put all this together on one vehicle, but the manuals cover this and that’s the best lesson you can ever get ,good luck.

Q: Another name for a 1985 chevrolet scottsdasle?
i was wondering i was seeing other names for them like c/k i dnt know what that means so what would be the specific name for a 1985 chevrolet scottsdale 4×4 3 quarter ton 350 motor truck

A: Yours is a chevy k20 scottsdale .Scottsdale was the trim package it had.the trim packages went custom delux, scottsdale, then silverado was the top of the line.K indicates 4×4,C indicates 2 wheel drive they came in 10 wich was half tone 20 wich was 3/4 ton and k 30 wich was 1 ton

Q: How much Horsepower does my truck have?
i drive a 1989 Chevrolet scottsdale 1500 c/k series, it has a 5.7 liter, 350 V-8 engine

A: Wow, Ken and John, I just don’t know what to say.

1989350, TBI, 9.8:1 compression, 195 HP @ 4200 RPM, 295 FT LBS @ 2400 RPM, vin code 7

And KEN.. That is brake power (BHP)

All the word “brake” means is that the engine was loaded, not free reving against a dyno when tested.

Very big diff in BHP and RWHP or WHP.. Where RWHP or WHP stands for rear wheel or wheel horse power..

Engine dynos test the HP at the crankshaft of engine..

Chassis dynos test HP at the driven wheels.

You loose 15-20% of HP through the drivetrain

Q: How do I use a multimeter to diagnose a problem with my blinkers and brake lights?
I have a 1998 c/k 1500 chevrolet pick up truck.
The blinkers and brake lights have been acting weird. At first just the brake lights and back blinkers went out. After having a guy at a parts store look at it all blinkers are out now. Even inside of the truck I have no lights blinking. Still no brake lights.
Long story short is I have a problem. I know I can use a multimeter/voltmeter to isolate the problem I just don’t know where to start. What do I set the meter to? Where do I start on the truck?
Any info on this would help alot. Thanks in advance.

A: it would take me too long to guide you through how to completely diagnose using a DVOM, so I’ll just cover some of the normal causes of this problem….
It indeed sounds like a multifunction switch problem. The multifunction switch is the switch that houses your turn signals, hazards, wipers, and cruise control. Your brake light circuits do run through this switch.
With your key on, lightly manipulate your hazard switch, and if your lights start working, you can bet that the multifunction switch is the culprit.
Obviously, make sure the auto parts guy didn’t remove your flasher, then forget to put it back in.
Sometimes, the taillamp modules fail, and have to be replaced. (the module is what you plug your bulbs into). And sometimes, the ground wire for the rear lamp wiring harness is broken or not grounded on the frame, causing only the rear lamps not to work….
good luck….

Q: Truck lifting Questionn?
I have a 1998 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Pickup and i want to get it lifted. How much does it cost to get it lifted if you do it by yourself and if you get someone else to do it? And I was also wanting some new rims but i’m not sure what size to get. any opinions?
thank you:)
and about how much do new tires cost?
I’m sure i could ask my dad this but idk oh well lol :]

A: A 6″ suspension lift will run you back about 1500$. A 3″ body lift would cost about 300$-400$$. The suspension lift would probably take about 3-4 hours of professional installation time and the body would probably take a little more. The time installing mostly depends on how co-operative the vehicle is as bolts stick and break and somethings just don’t work right.

Along with the lift you may feel the desire to put on bigger tires and with that comes rubbing issues. You may want to get rims with a different backspacing.

Q: If appearance attracts crime, shouldn’t the list of the top 10 most stolen cars include?
Hummers, Corvettes, Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s, Vipers, etc. These having the most attractive appearance and highest worth?

Instead the top 10 most stolen cars list is as follows:

1. Honda Civic
2. Toyota Camry
3. Honda Accord
4. Dodge Caravan
5. Chevrolet C/K 1500
6. Ford F-150
7. Dodge Ram Pickup
8. Acura Integra
9. Toyota Pickup
10. Nissan Sentra

http://www.carinsurancerates.com/news/11-10-most-stolen-cars.html

Doesn’t seem to make *ahem* (common) sense

Thank you

A: The appearance of being easy to steal is what is attractive to thieves. Stealing a nice car with a GPS tracking device like OnStar means the thief will be found, and quickly.

It’s actually very good common sense to take something that won’t be easily located and sell off the parts from a chop shop.

Q: how can i get better gas mileage?
i drive a 1989 Chevrolet scottsdale 1500 c/k series (it only has 87500 miles on it), it has a 5.7 liter, 350 V-8 engine, i have a 30 gallon gas tank, my spark plugs are in decent shape, my air filter is almost as good as a K&N (i have a carburetor of course), and i’ve run engine cleaner through the gas tank and engine which helped a little bit, but what else can i do to improve my gas milage (and horsepower if possible), but mainly gas milage, if you need any other details just ask. Best answer will be chosen!
i’ve also had an oil change pretty recently, and my tires are pressurized correctly, i check them pretty often
it also has an automatic transmission, and i don’t know if this is helpful but i have a toolbox in back too

A: drive it like you have a raw egg between your foot and the gas pedal

Q: how can i tell what kind of car this is the description the seller gave me doesnt make since?
I am interested in a car on ebay for restoration. The descritpion of the car says its a 1987 Chevrolet C/K Pickup 2500. then i t goes on toe discribe it as R/V20 Custom Deluxe / Scottsdale / Silverado, Regular Cab 2D, 5.0L V8 TBI. However when i search chevy models from that year it makes me choose between a R20 or a V20. Can someone help?
I am going to go look at the car later today. I just need help identifing what exactly it is before I get there.
ok so i just found out that it is a R20 now i need to knwo if its a cutom deluxe or a scottsldale. it has a wood bed which makes me believe its a custom deluxe. any help there?

A: My guess is the seller is using every key word he can think of so that a search would bring up his ad.

If the ad is confusing email the seller and ask for a complete description of the vehicle including the VIN. Once you have the VIN you’ll be able to determine exactly what it is he’s selling.

Q: chevy assembly instructions??
I am using a Chevrolet Motor Division Assembly Instruction Sheet for a 1971 Truck “c-k” series 3975764 with the Title marked as Mirror- Outside RR View. I am trying to convert the the measuring units shown there to inches. Are the basic starting units shown there decimals ?; and if so how do I convert them to inches? Thank you for your time, any help will be greatly appreciated.

A: If you are planning on drilling holes in the door to mount a mirror, first look from the inside of the door. There should be three reinforcement pads welded to the inside of the outer door skin. Use them as your guide by drilling from the inside out.

Q: No back blinkers and no brake lights?
I have a 1998 chevrolet c/k pick up truck.
The front blinkers work fine except now they are blinking fast since the back blinkers are out.
Tail lights work fine. Reverse lights work fine. Everything is working fine except for my back blinkers and brake lights.
I’ve checked the fuse it was ok.
If it was a bad fuse wouldn’t that mean my front blinkers wouldn’t work?
How about a bad blinker switch? Wouldn’t that mean I would have no blinkers, and does that control brake lights?
Any ideas at all or any ideas how I could use my multimeter to locate the problem? Thanks in advance.
Also forgot to mention– Front emergency lights do work and back emergency lights do not work.
I will have to repost this question because the details have changed.
I took it to an auto parts store and some guy walked outside and looked at my truck lights. Long story short after all was said and done I left the store worse than when I arrived!! The only lights I have now are head lights and tail lights! No front blinkers or hazard on the inside or outside of my truck.
oh well… maybe I just need to take my truck to a pro.

A: no brake lights? check the brake light switch up by the brake pedal. blinkers don,t work? change the flasher up under the dash or in the fuse block.
