Q: Bought a Chevrolet Colorado. No lock on passenger side. Failure to disclose by Chevrolet. What can I do?
We bought a new Chevrolet Colorado. Were not told there was no lock on passenger side (big inconvenience). Chevrolet dealer has not returned calls, nor eMails, nor letters. Totally ignored us. Contacted Chevrolet in Detroit; said they can do nothing, up to local dealer. This is failure to disclose (perhaps falls under lemon law). What can we do? We sent a registered letter to both dealer and Detroit Chevrolet. Dealer didn’t respond, nor did he return about ten (10) phone messages. Each time we went back to dealership, he conveniently was never there. Do we have any hopes of getting compensation?
A: Some manufacturers are deleting pass door key lock cylinder and also tailgate cylinder.Wether it cuts produstion cost or just seeing the lack of use for these lock ylinderrs due to keyless entry. The door still has a lock, just no keyed entry. I would suggest getting keyless entry.Dealer isnt responsible to tell you every detail about vehicle,it is up to you to do homework. As far as no return calls, that is bad business.Maybe you cna get them to cut you a deal on the keyless entry.
Q: Chevrolet Colorado or Toyota Tacoma?
My husband is looking into trading his old vehicle in for that cash for clunkers program and get a new truck to drive to work. He travels about 90 miles a day. He is undecisive about getting a Chevrolet Colorado or a Toyota Tacoma and would love to hear from your personal experiences or what you know about any of these trucks.
A: cant go wrong with the tacoma…one of my old co-worker had a 06′ colorado and has had many problems with it…mainly electrical…so i suggest staying away from that…
Q: How do you like the Chevrolet Colorado?
Im thinking about buying this truck. Preferably 06 or newer….
Any pros or cons from any owners of this vehicle.
A: My girlfriends dad has one of these,Not a bad little truck. he bought it new and it has 97xxx miles on it now, only has had to put new tires on and battery into it. as with any vehicle maintanance is the key if you take care of it this truck will treat you right.
Q: Chevrolet Colorado vs. Toyota Tacoma?
I’m about to finance a new truck. I’ve considered a Toyota Tacoma 6cyl. with 236 hp. vs Chevrolet Colorado 5 cyl. with (242 hp) or the Chevy Colorado with a V8 coming out in 2009 with a 300hp 5.7
Which do you think? The colorado seems to be the most powerful but the Tacoma is bigger and would probably be more comfortable.
Please no “Ford Ranger” answers cause I have one and it sucks.
A: consumer reports, motor trend (truck trend), car and driver have all rated the tacoma MUCH better than the colorado for drive, comfort, off road ability and everything… CR and JD Powers rates the tacoma better for reliability by a long shot as the colorado is the lowest rated compact truck onthe market in that regard.
but for my money, i’d check out the nissan frontier. better off raod than the tacoma (by virtue of front and rear lockers, not just rear), available 6 speed in every configuration, 270 hp with the v-6. and depending on which place you ask it’s either right in front of or right behind the toyota in overall drive and reliability. plus, with discounts it’s 4-6K cheaper for the same features as the tacoma… which is WAY overpriced.
Q: Where can I find the antenna that was supposed to come with my vehicle?
Hello, I recently bought a new 2009 Chevrolet Colorado. I have a problem when trying to listen to the AM/FM radio (most of the stations are fuzzy and unclear). I then discovered that there is no antenna attached to my vehicle. Where do I find, or go about getting the factory installed antenna that was supposed to come with my vehicle when I bought it?
A: You would find one at the dealer. Call the parts department and order one. If you’re lucky they may have one is stock. If you’re really unlucky it will be imbedded in the glass and you’ll need to order a new windshield.
I have a hard time believing that a brand new Chevy truck would not come with an antenna unless the truck was specifically ordered without a radio.
Q: Does my 2005 Chevrolet Colorado have a PCV Valve?
I own a 2005 chevy colorado that idles rough for the first 2 – 5 minutes when i start it. i regularly change the oil, oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter. other than that, i have never had any work done to it and someone suggested i change the PCV Valve. i haven’t been able to find one online and am wondering if there is even one available. Sometimes technolgoies disappear as newer methods are discovered and am wondering if this is the case.
A: Of course it does. The positive crankcase ventialtion valve will be located on one of the valve covers. It probably is not yet damaged, as they usuallt last for years. Some times they are located on the rear of the intake manifold, and some 80s mustangs had them on the side of the block, but yours will be the vacuum tube going to the larger piece on your valve cover.
Q: Should I buy this chevrolet colorado?
Alright, I’m buying a new mini truck.
I’ll be using it as my main vehicle and will be towing jetskis rarely.
I was wondering if I should get this 2009 Chevrolet Colorado that I found.
Its only 17k, but is an Extended Cab LT and only has 2500 miles, but is only equipped with the lesser I4 engine.
The I4 Engine produces 185 hp, 190 lbs of torque.
I could purchase a I5 engine Colorado that produces aroung 242 hp and 242 lbs of towing.
But I would be more in the 20,000 – 24,000 price range even for used with that low of mileage.
I was wondering if the 17k colly was such a good deal I should get it or would I rather have a more powerful pickup with roughly the same fuel economy but a little bit more coin. Thanks for the help!
A: I would look for another pickup. The 2010 Auto Reliability of the 4-wheel-drive Chevrolet Colorado is 0.69 (a rahter low D) over a 5-year data history. So, it may be very expensive to maintain.
Q: Chevrolet Colorado Check engine light?
I have got a 2006 Chevy Colorado with about 86,000 Miles on it. In the past few months the check engine light has been going on and off. I have hooked a scanner up to it, and each time it tells me that i have a random cylinder misfire (only its not random, its in cyl. 3 and only when idling)
I have changed the spark plug in cylinder 3, twice. Nothing. I have switched the cylinder coil pack from one to three, but it still misfires in 3. I have put injector cleaner in with my gas when i get fuel (which i have been putting mid-grade gas in, figuring maybe it was bad regular gasoline i was putting in) but nothing has worked. I even recently changed my coil pack in 3 to a brand new one.. nothing. I am really getting frustrated with this, and of course, my warranty has just expired. (typically).
I really need help with his. But i cannot afford to take it straight to GM. I think it could possibly be maybe a bad injector??? i don’t know.
A: Have the compression checked.
Q: Is there really a better car engine out there? (Chevy Colorado)?
The Chevrolet Colorado comes with a straight-5 cylinder engine. It has more power than a 4 cylinder, better fuel economy than a v6, and more torque than a v8. I own a 2005 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab. Living in the New Orleans area.
A: nothing beats a small block chevy but u looking for power drop a LS7 in it. only give u 500 horse
Q: I want a new truck…something fast..need some good input!!?
I currently have a 2004 chevy colorado sport (I-5)…20’s screens, exhaust, its pretty nice, but slow. I wanted to do one of two things.. I am doing research and want to either
1. I want to get a new truck, something new, nice and fast. Something around 25k and nothing more then 30k and make it a beast. I dont know what is out there or whats new, my buddy has a super charged chevy SS intimdator which pushes 370HP. any ideas on whats new, fast, and nice! (im a truck guy)
2.I want to finish working on my 04 chevy colorado. Maybe do a replica of this
http://www.sporttruck.com/featuredvehicles/chevy/0602st_chevrolet_colorado_ss_concept_truck/index.html or supercharge it..but I personally feel a supercharger on a I-5 wont give me the results that I want. Any ideas if I could make the 400hp monster 6.0 fit in the 04 chevy colorado crew cab??
I need some good minds with some fresh ideas here I AM OPEN TO ANYTHING TRUCK RELATED.. I want a sport / street truck. THANKS!!!
A: You got a very nice truck you just gotta pimp it out at some engine shop that has high preformance
Q: Aftermarket radio wiring harness questions for 2005 Chevy Colorado?
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions here!
As the title states, I have a few questions about installing an aftermarket radio in my truck. It does not have OnStar, nor is it a Bose system. The factory radio is just an AM/FM/single CD player.
I purchased a Pyle DVD/CD/AM/FM touch screen radio that is the same face size as the factory radio. If you need the specifics, here’s a link to the radio: http://www.pyleaudio.com/itemdetail.asp?model=PLDN70U
I found two harnesses on Ebay. Here is the first one:
Expensive harness: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Car-wiring-Harness-Chevy-Colorado-04-05_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4831f5630cQQitemZ310075810572QQptZCarQ5fAudioQ5fVideo
It sounds like it is the harness I need. Any comments? I also found another harness (web address is below) which is cheaper, but also says it should work as well. The ad says something about “If you want a higher quality version” to get a different harness. What’s the difference? Any comments on this harness?
Cheaper harness: http://cgi.ebay.com/2007-Chevrolet-Colorado-Radio-Wiring-Harness_W0QQitemZ230144223346QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3595aa2872
I like my truck. I can’t stand the stupid chimes that go through the speakers though. The blinkers…fasten seat belt…ding….ding…click clock…ding….drives me nuts! I was hoping by installing an aftermarket radio, that it would go away….apparently not. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of the chime, and turn signal clicker from coming through my speakers?
As a side note: If there is a GM engineer reading this, and you designed the radio/chime/clicker thing in this truck….please beat yourself senseless with anything you can find. It’s really annoying. Thank you.
Also one more question. The radio I am putting in is a DVD player. I’ve heard it will not play DVD’s while the key is in the “Run” position to keep people from watching movies while driving. I’d also like to wire around this feature so it will play no matter what. Any suggestions?
Thanks again for taking the time to reply! Happy New Year to all!
A: The cheaper harness (http://cgi.ebay.com/2007-Chevrolet-Colorado-Radio-Wiring-Harness_W0QQitemZ230144223346QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3595aa2872) will work fine it just plays the chimes from the black box instead of the speakers. As for the “higher quality” version the difference is that that harness comes with rca adapters to integrate a factory amp (if you had the Bose premium system). You can find the “cheaper” harness at Walmart also (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5691045). As for bypassing the e-brake safety function here are some links.

You will also need a dash kit (http://www.amazon.com/Metra-95-2009-Installation-Multi-Kit-1995-2008/dp/B0021K4ISC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1262468523&sr=8-1) and an antenna adapter (http://www.amazon.com/Metra-40-GM10-GM-Antenna-Adapter/dp/B0002BEQN4) if you haven’t bought them
Q: New Car Dealership Price/MSRP?
Well I want to buy a new truck and it seems all the dealerships around here have a price on a truck way above the msrp. For example, the dealership has the truck to offer for $23,120 http://www.burkegmsuperstore.com/VehicleDetails/398385073 and the msrp is $18,950 http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/2009-chevrolet-colorado-2wd-ext-cab-125.9-work-truck.htm You would think dealers would be offering under the msrp trying to get more sales with the way the economy is. Why is the dealership price on this over 4k the msrp? Thanks.

Q: What car should I get?
I have been looking to get a new used car. I am trying to decide between a Chevrolet Colorado or a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I want something that has good gas mileage, is practical and fun to drive. Between these two, which one would you suggest?
A: Fun? Neither are fun since they’ll be in the shop half the time!
Get a Honda Pilot or CR-V if you want fun and get good gas mileage!

A: I wasn’t aware of this, but actually Toyota and Honda have Labor Unions.. in Japan! It is only in their American plants that they try to prevent organized labor.
