Q: Can you use parts from a Chevrolet Colorado or GMC Canyon on an Isuzu I-290?
A: The parts sure better be interchangeable, seeing as how all of those Isuzu pickups roll off of the Canyon/Colorado assembly line.
In truth, the Canyon/Colorado is actually based on a jointly-developed platform that was originally sold overseas as the Isuzu D-MAX – however, on the version that was later built here in the United States, General Motors swapped-in their own engines and restyled the body… but the platform itself is virtually identical.
Due to something called the Chicken Tax, Isuzu sells the GM version here in the US (rather than their version that is built in Thailand). Basically, it is far too cost prohibitive for Isuzu to sell the D-MAX in the United States – so, to save themselves the tariff, they simply slapped an Isuzu emblem on the domestically-produced Canyon/Colorado instead.

Q: Should I buy this chevrolet colorado?
Alright, I’m buying a new mini truck.
I’ll be using it as my main vehicle and will be towing jetskis rarely.
I was wondering if I should get this 2009 Chevrolet Colorado that I found.
Its only 17k, but is an Extended Cab LT and only has 2500 miles, but is only equipped with the lesser I4 engine.
The I4 Engine produces 185 hp, 190 lbs of torque.
I could purchase a I5 engine Colorado that produces aroung 242 hp and 242 lbs of towing.
But I would be more in the 20,000 – 24,000 price range even for used with that low of mileage.
I was wondering if the 17k colly was such a good deal I should get it or would I rather have a more powerful pickup with roughly the same fuel economy but a little bit more coin. Thanks for the help!
A: I would look for another pickup. The 2010 Auto Reliability of the 4-wheel-drive Chevrolet Colorado is 0.69 (a rahter low D) over a 5-year data history. So, it may be very expensive to maintain.
Q: Do you have a Chevrolet Colorado?
I’ve considered buying a 2005-2007 Colorado. I’ve researched what i can and have test driven a used one at a dealer. Unfortunately i don’t know anyone who has one so i don’t have the luxery of personal opinion. I would buy it for use as a daily driver and for occasional work around the house. I’m not really concerned about hauling ability but any input would be helpful. I’m mostly concerned about drivability and comfort on the highway. Gas milage? Routine maintenance? General quality and how well does it seem built?
A: I seen a lot of Colorado here http://car-q.com/Chevrolet-_Colorado-Modification_9.html maybe you will need these.
Q: 2006 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab – Audio System.?
Alright, I have NO car audio experience whatsoever. I simply know about guitar amps, and nothing else. So I know I’m about to sound like a moron.
I drive the colorado desribed above, and I’m currently shopping for the best options for a stereo upgrade. In order to get a subwoofer, I need to either install it underneath the back bench, or right behind the centre console. I found a great option for the bench box – http://www.soundoffaudio.com/item.cfm/id/2177 and now I need to choose a sub (the unit fits two 8 inch woofers). At the moment, all of my gear is factory. Both 6-3/4″ speakers as well as the mini tweeters in front, plus the factory piece of crap CD receiver. I’m assuming the head is RCA inputs. For my truck, will I need to purchase an amplifier in order to use the two subs? Eventually everything will be replaced, but I’m not sure which to replace first – the deck, speakers, or get the subs installed. The deck will need to be replaced with the custom piece for the GM models post year 2000.
Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks, guys!
-J.
A: if you are going to get the subs you will need an amp to power them, im not sure on the stock cd player if it has the rca hookups or not, you may be able to look in the manual or something to check that out. i personally (in my chevy truck) i got the cd player changed first, and then i got my sub and amp and then went with different speakers, but the order would be up to you. however it would suck if you bought the sub and amp and got it all ready and then ended up not having rca hookups in your stock stereo. a good place to check out for car equipment would be crutchfield.com they often run sales on subs and they have a live chat you can talk to an advisor who will help you pick out your system to what you are looking for.
Q: Does anyone know if 20 inch rims (or larger) will fit on a chevy colorado extreme?
20+ inch rims wouldn’t fit on the S-10, without shaving the fender.
the chevrolet colorado extreme comes with 18 inch rims, but im not sure if they can use 20+ inch rims? I plan on puttiong them on my extrme in a couple months. If anyone knows for sure, or has an idea or some links or evidence, let me know, thank you.
A: Yes they can. But if you go to a tire place they would be able to tell you exactly what can and cannot be done. Because you have to think of the tire it self too .. not just the rim. I personally would go to a tire place, or maybe even go to the Chevy dealer ship, and they would be able to tell you better what will work for your truck.
Q: What size Tires should I put on 15×10 rims?
I have a chevrolet colorado not a huge truck and all I’m trying to do is put some really wide tires on there fore a more aggressive look and possibly a little more traction. I don’t want to lift the truck at all so what size tires should I use?? I have no clue. Someone help me out here. Thanks
A: 245/60/15
hard to tell without seeing truck
Q: What car should I get?
I have been looking to get a new used car. I am trying to decide between a Chevrolet Colorado or a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I want something that has good gas mileage, is practical and fun to drive. Between these two, which one would you suggest?
A: Fun? Neither are fun since they’ll be in the shop half the time!
Get a Honda Pilot or CR-V if you want fun and get good gas mileage!
Q: Are aftermarket fiberglass body kits legal in Colorado?
I was looking at this duraflex body kit and wanted to know if it was street legal
http://www.duraflexbodykits.com/0510-chevrolet-corvette-edition-widebody-complete-11pc-p-13583.html
I asked them and they said, “we have not had our product DOT certified for street use here in the USA . You can check with local and state law enforcement to see if using an aftermarket fiberglass bumper is legal in your area.” so that is why I’m asking you guys now. do any of you guys know if they are?
A: Its legal. Most and all body kits these days are completely legal. As long as the body kit does not go below a certain point which is hard to do. Besides, that kit doesn’t make an extreme difference in appearance, so you should be safe. Driving around my area, I see tons of cars with body kits, exhausts, and other modifications and don’t get hassled.
Q: I have a question about my truck?
I have a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado LS Z71 5 cylinder truck
and i want to know if its okay to fill my truck with supreme or premium
cause one of my mechanics said that the regular unleaded gas is mix with water and thats why my truck is wasting gas I alread changes the sparks plugs, check the tires, and everything and if its okay to use that
A: HAHA mixed with water wut an idiot
Uhh regular just doesn’t have the same Octane percentage than the other supreme and premium
Q: Do you miss your first car?
My first vehicle was a 1991 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Ext. Cab. I loved that truck, but it became unreliable after the 200,000 mile mark. I sold it (mistake) and chose a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado Xtreme CrewCab for my second vehicle. I lost my Colorado in a flash flood when the sewer system at my girlfriend’s house got backed up. By the time the neighbors made it to our house to warn us, it was too late. The water was already up to the headlights. We pushed her down the road to get her out of the water, but she didn’t survive the flood. On the bright side, I got a nice insurance check and used that as a down payment on a 2008 Dodge Charger. I love my Charger, but sometimes I wish I still had my first truck. I had so many great times in that truck.
Do you ever miss your first car?
A: I don’t miss my first vehicle at all because I still have it. I’m 24 now and have had it since my dad gave it to me in the 6th grade. I don’t drive it much anymore but it’s a great truck. A 1951 chevy stepside.

My question is in regard to the “Note” at the end of the description. I have a 2003 Tahoe Z71 with the Premium Bose system, why would this NOT be compatible? I’m looking to replace the stock in-dash unit with the Pioneer AVIC-F700BT and need to keep all the chimes and everything working, so I would need this wiring harness, but what’s the deal with the Bose system? Why would it not be compatible? Is there any alternative harness that WILL work? Thanks!
A: The Bose has a separate amplifier, with a different harness.
The compatibility issue has to do with the LAN communications. There are a certain number of modules programmed into the BCM memory, and when the LAN is powered up, it looks for the correct amount of modules. If one is missing, it sets a code and can disable other functions.
At the dealership where I work, I have seen the original radio pushed back inside the dash panel, still connected to the harness, and an aftermarket one in the space for the radio, which is then wired up separate from the OEM harness. This allows the chime and all other original functions to operate, but still be able to have the super powerful system in place. Just an observation and a suggestion.

A: It would NOT be compatible because this adapter still uses the after-market head unit’s amplifier to drive the speakers. Your Trailblazer’s Bose system has its own amplifier. Nor can you use the aftermarket deck’s outputs to connect directly to the Bose amplifier.
Here’s how the “Premium Bose” system in your Trailblazer works: the factory head unit supplies a fixed left and right audio signal to the Bose amplifier. It also generates a control signal through the vehicle’s computer data bus. When you turn up the volume or adjust the fader, it doesn’t change the levels on audio signals between the Bose head unit and Bose amplifier (like most standard Bose systems work). Instead, it sends a data signal to the amplifier telling it to adjust the volume, or adjust the fader settings. Needless to say, the after-market head unit isn’t capable of producing the control data stream that the Bose amp is looking for…and neither is that Scosche adapter.
That particular adapter will work ONLY if you plan to bypass the Bose amplifier and replace the Bose speakers. In this case you can connect the new speakers directly to the head unit, or use an after-market amplifier, and the Scosche adapter will work. However, if you want to keep the Bose amp and speakers in the system, you need an adapter that will take the audio output from the new head unit and convert it to a fixed left/right audio signal and a data control signal, which the Bose amp can use. I’d suggest Metra’s GMOS-04.
Edit: I mis-read the type of vehicle you have. Actually, the Bose system in your Tahoe may be much different from the Trailblazer Bose system I described above. The Bose package in most Tahoe’s is a “standard” Bose system, not a “premium” Bose. If yours is a standard Bose system, then you could use the RCA connectors that come with the adapter to supply the Bose amp from your Pioneer deck’s RCA pre-outs. In this case, the Scosche adapter would work.
Here’s how you can tell the difference: just turn on the factory Bose radio, and adjust the volume. If there’s a slight delay between the time you turn the dial and the time the volume actually adjusts, then you probably have a premium Bose system, and you’d want the GMOS-04. If there’s no perceptible delay, then it’s probably a standard Bose, and the Scosche adapter would work (although the GMOS-04 would work too, and IMO it’s a more reliable product).
