Q: What are the speaker sizes in the 1992 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup?
I need the speaker sizes in the 1992 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup. Not the Blazer.

A: Check out Crutchfields website for all sizes of speakers and head units that will fit your car or truck.

Q: How much does a new catalytic converter cost to put in a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 by a mechanic?
How much for just the catalytic converter and how much does the average mecahnic charge for the part and labor of changing a catalytic converter in a 1998 Chevrolet S-10?

A: Cheaper ta go to a muffler shop, than a mechanic………

Q: Whats a better pickup truck a Chevrolet S-10, Toyota Tacoma, or a Nissan pickup?
I need to buy a used truck for my landscaping business but I don’t know which one would be better?

My friend is selling me his 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck xtra-cab manual transmission, 4 cylinders, 150k miles for $2,700.00 do you think it’s a good buy?

A: Its all about maintenance. If you take care of it they last. If not they don’t.

If you manage to get 10 mpg in an S10 something is wrong with it.

Q: How do you remove the crank on a Chevrolet S-10 Door Panel?
I need to remove the door panel to fix the window in my S-10 pickup 1991, but I cant get the crank off to remove the panel any suggestions?

A: you need a door handle remover, in order to remove circlip that holds the handle in place

Q: Chevrolet S-10 Motor Swap?
what is a good size V6 or I6 chevy makes, other than the 4.3, that would do a good job of allowing an S-10 to “keep its own” with the “street” scene. i need something decently customizable (cams, etc), and keep in the “above 10 mpg” range.

A: keep in mind you may wan to ask around to see what are you state laws. if your truck is old enough you can upgrade to an v8. you will not go wrong with that type of power

Q: What engine would a 94′ Chevrolet S-10 with a 5-speed standard transmission have?
I’m looking at getting a 94′ S-10 with a 5-speed tranny and I’m wondering what engine it most likely has in it.

A: most likely it would have a 4cyl 2.2L engine. I think most that had the 4.3 Vortec (not VORTEX) came with an automatic trans.

Q: how do i remove a Block Heater from a 1988 chevrolet s-10?
its a 4.3 ltr V-6 chevrolet s-10 sport and ive never pulled one of those before any tips or links you could send me would be helpful
the block heater is bad so im putting a plug there

A: A block heater is usually a heating element that is built into one of your freeze plugs, so unless it is leaking why mess with it?

Q: Does an Odometer on a 99 Chevrolet S-10 contain a hundredth digit?
I was just going to buy a 1999 Chevy S-10 with 70k and did a carfax history report and it said that it EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS TITLE ISSUED and on 05/05/2005 they stated it had 9,500. My question is could that be a mistake or does the s-10 not have a hundredth digit? Is there anyway it could be 170k?

A: yea its probably 170

Q: How easy is it to replace the multi-function switch on my 1997 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer?
Specifically, do I need to remove the steering wheel with a puller or is everything easilly accessible?

A: Pull the steering wheel using a puller. Remove the lock plate using a lockplate compressor to get the lock ring out of your way. Both these tools can be borrowed from autozone after leaving a small deposit. Unscrew the multi-switch. trace the wires down the steering column and unplug them. Then fish them up through the column and remove. Installation is the reverve of the removal, so be sure to take note of where everything goes.

Q: How hard is it to change the drive shaft carrier bearing on a 1995 Chevrolet S-10?
My truck vibrates really bad when i slow down, so after doing research i figure that’s what it was, some people have told me it really hard to do, others have disagreed. Any input?

A: you must be talking about u-joints at either end of the drive shaft shaft usually when bad will have vibration not so much with down shift but at higher speeds as in drivng down highway starting around 40-50 and getting worse the faster you go but will need a to put it in vice and heat to get them off and try not to put any dents in it so you don’t throw off the balance of the d/shaft. carrier bearing on the drive shaft usually are on the longer/larger body trucks which need the longer drive shaft

Q: How do I unclog the sprayer for my windshield wiper fluid pump on my 2003 Chevrolet S-10?
I think the line is clogged or something because when you fill it up and spray it nothing comes out. It doesn’t leak or anything.

A: get a needle and clean out nozzle

Q: How do I remove a heater coil from a 2003 Chevrolet S 10 pickup crewcab 4 wheel drive?

A: You DO NOT want to attempt this job. It requires the entire dash to be removed from the vehicle and that’s just half of the job. The HVAC module must also be removed and disassembled to get to the heater core. If you have a leaking core in that new a truck, I’d call the dealer and see if it is covered under warranty. There is no way the core should be leaking on a 3 y/o truck. This is a labor intensive job and will cost the hell out of you, no matter who does it>

Q: How do you siphon gas from a chevrolet s-10?
My s-10 is broke down, but it has a full tank of gas, which I don’t want to waste, so how would I go by siphoning the gas out of it, or does it have a anti-siphon thingamajig?

A: there is no known thingamajig, just insert the hose, and make sure the end of the hose is lower than the hose that is in the tank, extinguish all smoking materials, etc. be careful not to suck too long, or you can get a mouthfull of gas. this is unpleasant, but not deadly. rinse your mouth out if this happens.

Q: 1989 Chevrolet S-10…Can I change the wheel cylinder without having to remove the brake shoes?

A: yes , I almost never remove brake shoes when doing wheel cylinders. You will need to unhook both top return springs and the you can spread the shoes just a little bit to remove the wheel cylinder

Q: How do I fix a high pressurized A/C system on my 2000 Chevrolet S-10?
I had a mechanic replace my exhaust headers a while ago on a 2.2 L 4-Cyl. Engine and he had to remove the A/C unit to get to it. Now when I tried to use my A/C system it is not cooling down as it did before and when I tried to add more oil/frion mix into the system, the gauge was telling me that there is well over 100 psi of pressure inside and that I obviously shouldn’t add any more. During the process I had the system on Max A/C and the fan on high. In the middle vent there were small bits of sponge being blown through it. Through my random search of answers I think it might be the sensor that controls the compressor and tells it when to turn on/off. Any suggestions or ideas would help….

A: OKAY FIRST PUT THE GAUGES BACK ON AND READ BOTH THE HIGH AND LOW SIDE PRESSURES.

LOW SIDE 30 TO 40 PSI AND HIGH SIDE 225 TO 250 PSI.

CHEAPEST WAY IS TO JUST REPLACE THE ACCUMULATOR AND THE EXPANSION TUBE AND EVACUATE AND RECHARGE AND ADD THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FREON AND OIL.

TRY THIS GUY, I HAVE PURCHASED MANY ITEMS FROM HIM THROUGHOUT THE YEARS AND SOMETIMES HE HAS A LOT OF OLDER PARTS AND ODDBALL PARTS, ALSO HAS VERY GOOD PRICING AS WELL AND IS A VERY FAST SHIPPER.

Q: what kind of fluid does a 95 Chevrolet s-10 manual trans use?
which one atf or gear oil
i dont have an owners manual if i did i would look it up
thanks guys you all really helped

A: I own a 93 S-10 and it uses ATF type . Dextron in the 5 speed tranny

Q: Can anyone lead me to a good source for finding info. on my 1987 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer?
I am in need of a transmission for this vehicle, the problem is I need to find out if it is or is not with the aux. valve body, I would like to do this by not having to pull the pan and look. I went to the local Chevy dealer and he looked in his records and could not tell me because two different trans. were installed in that vehicle that year. I would think with the Vin# someone will know, could use advice on how to find this out.

A: yea good old gm the later it was in the year the more you will have a aux v/b if memory serves me right look at he month i think anything later than 6/87 you will have the aux v/b but if you want to make sure pull the pan and if you see the tube that runs from the pump to the back of the v/b into the servo then it will be the aux v/b

Q: 2002 Chevrolet S-10 brake lights stick when using brakes but the 3rd brake light works everytime w/o sticking?
hello, i have a 2002 chevrolet s-10 2.2liter 5 speed pick up. my problem is that my rear two brake lights stick sometimes after pressing the brake petal but even when they might stick i have to tap the pedal several times and they go off. however the 3rd brake light on top of the truck never sticks and works every time. i have replaced the CHMSL relay, replaced the braking ground wire,turn/signal hazard flasher, turn signal/hazard switch on the steering column, stop light switch on the top of the brake pedal(which is not adjustable, just slides on with a metal clip to go over it),and the turn signal fuse, hazard fuse inside the fuse panel of the truck and my rear brake lights still stick. the weird thing is that when they stick if i turn on the left turn signal the right one is stuck on still but the left light blinks, turn the right blinker on and the left light stays on and the right light blinks.turn off turn signals and they are stuck on until i tap the brakes until they go off.thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this and a special thank you to anyone who responds with any kind of answer. thanks

A: If anyone has messed w/ the wiring before, there may be wires crossed underneath. If it was mine I would start at the back &(this may sound stoopid) check the bulbs. If they’re fine then get underneath in back and work your way forward following the wiring harness. All this is just if you think it may have been worked on by a previous owner. Hope it helps

Q: 1982 chevrolet s 10?
i have a 1982 chevrolet s 10 should i put an 2.2 liter in it 4.3 liter 350 or 355 it will be used for draging some one plz. answer back

A: I would put in a 4.3 Liter V6 if you’re not a speed demon, if you’re a speed demon I would put in a 327, 350 or a 355 V8 motor.

Q: 1997 S-10 Chevrolet truck with 4.3L wont start> Help!!!?
I have a 1997 S-10 Chevorlet truck with a 4.3 Liter motor with a 5 speed transmition. The gas gauge doesn’t work so I check by the mileage. I accedently let the car run out of gas and it wouldnt start. I put 13 bucks worth of gas in the car and it would still not start. I used some starting fluid and the car started right up. I drove it around for a few days and it would have a hard time starting every now and then. But the car ran really good. When I try to start it the rpms will pick up to about 500 and then die. The car runs just under 1,000. It wont start anymore. I put fuel injector cleaner in a full tank of gas and replaced the fuel filter. When the car was running there would be some stuttering with the acelleration sometimes. Please help me

A: i agree with ed its the fuel pump these trucks had alot of problems with fuel pumps. while cranking you need 60lb of pressure. if you have only 55lb because of a weak pump it will not start. i replaced a lot of these.

Q: 95 chevy S-10 SS, When i use my turn signal my hazards turn on why?
I have a 95 Chevrolet S-10 SS- I recent purchased it and didn’t notice the problem before hand, When I turn on my head lights my right blinker doesnt work? but it does with my headlights off? and when i use any turn signal my hazards flash? Whats going on do i have some serious wiring problems to figure out?

A: Your trouble is in the turn signal switch. It is behind the steering wheel. If you have a air bag in the steering wheel ? You will need the proper person to repair it.
About two hours labor.

Q: how much should I sell my beater truck for- 1991 chevrolet S-10?
I have been using it to haul tree limbs etc. It has lots of minor problems, one window doesn’t roll down, no A.C., fuel gauge is broken, Have to use a screw driver instead of a key, seats worn out, headliner falling down, etc. But the 4.3 V-6 runs great, transmission and breaks are great! Does not burn oil, or does it have any leaks. It is a good tree limb hauler.

A: if it will still pass inspection go with 800 to 1500. If it will not pass inspection go figure what the price will be to fix the problems then subtract that from the price you would sell it for if it passes inspection. Dont go lower then 400 bucks unless its really screwed up

Q: Harmonic Balancer for a 1985 Chevrolet S-10: SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY!?
My husband just found out that his Harmonic Balancer went out in his truck. I located the part but we aren’t sure how long this process will take to fix…can anyone tell me how extensive it is to completely disconnect then re-connect one of these parts?
Also, do you really need to use the pulley to do this procedure?
well, we started friday at 5:00 p.m and finished at 1:00 a.m. lol…we couldn’t figure out how to use the puller…and I’m actually the one that figured it out, plus we had to take everything off..the radiator, all the belts to get to it cause we didn’t have a lift or anything..so all together it was a 5 hour job, but it did save us a bunch of money..shops wanted $90.00/hr. labor…that you all for your answers..we prob. wouldn’t have tried to tackle it alone if I wouldn’t have read all your responses.

A: It is not that hard of a job. I am suspecting that the rubber ring in the balancer deteriorated and the ring has slipped. Hopefully the keyway hasn’t sheered in the snout of the crankshaft. This is what keeps the balancer from spinning on the end of the crankshaft. You’ll need to remove the upper half of the fan shroud. remove the serpentine belt or v-belts. It’s helpfull to remove the cooling fan just to get it out of the way. there is also a pulley bolted to the harmonic balancer that will have to be removed. Loosen the harmonic balancer retaining bolt. this will be very tight and the engine will have to be held in place if you don’t use an impact gun. you’ll have to either purchase or rent a harmonic balancer puller/installer.
it’s better to use an installer also because trying to swing a hammer in there with the radiator still in is pretty tight. I’ve also found a lot of the times you will need to use a tap or a thread chaser on the bolt holes the balancer puller uses. These are typically different bolt holes than what the pulley uses. They don’t get used very often and get plugged up with rust and dirt. Once you install the puller, tighten down the forcing screw. Make sure you put the adapter in the end of the screw for it to center on the snout of the crank. If not you’ll end up ruining the forcing screw. You’ll have to stop the engine from turning while turning the forcing screw. You can do this by using a screwdriver and engaging the teeth on the flywheel. Once you get the old balancer off, check and make sure the key is still installed on the snout of the crank. Install the new balancer using a balancer installer. It’s sort of like the remover but it presses the balancer on instead of removing it. You’ll need to hold the center screw and turn the big nut with a wrench. This forces the balancer back on to the crank. Make sure you press the balancer on all the way or the belts will have alignment problems.

Q: I have a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 pickup which suddenly stopped running.?
It had sat in my driveway for over a year without being run. After using it for short errands recently over the last week, it died on me. I can start it and it will run as long as my foot is on the gas pedal, but the minute I take my foot off, it dies. Can you tell me what might be wrong? Also, I have replaced the fuel filter and tried to empty the bad gas out of the tank. I can prime it, and it will run for a short period. PLEASE HELP!

A: i couldnt find any thng specific in my haynes but my brain tells me u got a bad sensor. i would guess air idle control valve is high on the list. second would be mass air flow and third would be throttle position sensor. i would go to junk yard and get aicv and toss that in. it will cost next to nothing. if that doesnt do it, bite the bullet and take it in for 85 bucks and have them diagnose it for you. good luck, keep your greasy side down.

Q: Blinker problems with 1992 Chevrolet S-10?
The right blinker works fine but when I try to use the left it doesn’t work. The light comes on but doesn’t blink. The indicator in the dash stays lit and dosen’t blink either. It blinks when the hazards are on but otherwise it doesn’t. When I try to turn to the left the switch doesn’t reset like it does when I switch it to turn right. I checked all the bulbs and they are all fine. Don’t know what’s wrong with it.

A: if all the bulbs are good but does not blink you need to replace turn signal switch. this will also fix the “When I try to turn to the left the switch doesn’t reset ” problem.

Q: Chevrolet Express 1997d. used or 2002 auctioneMaybe 03 auctioned too?
I need a vehicle for work and can’t choose!

Here are my choices:
1. 1997 3500 Chevrolet Express Cargo Van: Might be a V6 or V8
-Maintained by in house mechanic every month
-86,000 miles
-Some dents, scratches, interior cosmetics need some work
-$4,200 – The company is selling it because it’s the only vehicle thats too small on the lot and too low for the loading dock. And there logo is still on it, so they subtracted the cost of repaint also, I guess.
or
2. A 2002 1500/2500 Chevrolet Express Cargo Van from auction like Copart or IAA Auction.
or
3. A 2003-7 1500/2500 Chevrolet Express Cargo Van from auction like Copart or IAA Auction.

What I don’t like about the 97 is the fact that its now 2007 (10 years), are these Vans ageless or am I being to picky. (ps. I ride a 95 s-10 with a 98 engine). And the auction ones might be lemons. What you think?

If your a mechanic or very knowledgeable about this vehicle, then feel free to answer. It would also be nice if you own a few : ).

A: I would buy the 97′ Express, mostly because they only put 8,600 miles on it average yearly. This van is a V8 being that it is a 3500, it will cost more at the pump but V8’s are a decent powerhouse. The 97′ Express is also worth $6200 with alot of wear compaired to excellent condition being worth $8200, all in all it still is a bargain. My dad had leased a 2001 1500 with a V6 and the only problem he had was one spark plug went out, he currently owns a GMC Savana 1500 Cargo van. I have driven it a couple times and it really is a easy driver. With auctioned cars they tend to sell for more than they are worth, and most of them come with problems like leaks in the transmission or anywhere that vital fluids flow. It is better to be able to inspect and drive the vehicle to make sure you will be happy with it.

Q: Will a hitch from a 97 Blazer fit a 98 S-10?
I have an original factory frame-mounted receiver hitch that was taken from a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer LT 4×4; I have someone interested in buying it from me to use on a 1998 Chevy S-10 P/U. Neither of us knows: will it fit? Or can it be reasonably modified to fit?

A: Yes the blazer used the same frame and chassis 1996-2004. almost everything is interchangable except headlights grills and some interior parts.

Q: Why does my car randomly stall at low speeds or idle?
94 chevrolet s-10 4.3litre V6 approx 105k miles

fuel pump went out approx 15k miles ago and it was replaced along with a fuel filter. use 89 grade gas and regular fuel system treatments after an oil change.

My a/c cycles a lot. One thing I notice about my a/c is that every once in a while when you start it up you will hear a bang coming from where that compressor is at. Maybe it has plates/rotors in it that are off track. I almost think my a/c problem is causing the stalls?

It only stalls when i am going very slow or recently stopped from a slow speed. And, it only appears to do this when the a/c is on. It seems to want to miss after coming out of reverse from a parking spot too. Today was weird. It stalled as I parked in my garage, and it would not immediately start back up.

Thanks for any recommendations before I have it checked.

A: Idle air control solonoid may be going bad. I would take to a shop and check with scanner

I have a few not so good pics I could send to your phone (not able to upload to computer)

A: So let me get this straight. You want to buy a vehicle that is at least 12 years old, sight unseen, over the Internet. You do realize that any of these vehicles will be sold “As Is – No Warranty”. Do you understand what “As Is – No Warranty” means?

You are depending on brief descriptions and a few pictures selected by the seller to determine the actual condition of the vehicle. You are also depending on strangers on the Internet to select your vehicle for you.

Use some of the auto price estimating sites to get an idea of how much money these vehicles should sell for. Use Edmund’s, Kelly Blue Book, and NADA Guide. These will give different prices. I figure them on all 3 sites then average the results. This will get you in the ball park.

Go and personally inspect and test drive each of the vehicles in question. Then pick the one that YOU feel is the best vehicle for the money.

Q: What chevrolet truck took over the S-10?
My friend loves the chevrolet s-10, but it is no longer made. What chevrolet truck took place of the s-10

A: THE colorado and the canyon but dont worry the S-10 is comeing back in 2010 i Know this for a FACT…It will also be available in a V-8 version finally but it will be a small V-8…

Q: Chevrolet S-10 Truck (86′) problem?
My husband went to open the hood of his truck and the cable/release latch that opens it broke. Does anyone know how much this runs in price or is it even fixable?

A: yes it is fixable and inexpensive, look into a local salvage yard for the cable, if unavailable, go aftermarket dealer pricing would be high

Q: What should I nickname my new truck? **Picture Links** (‘93 Chevrolet S-10)?
1993 Chevrolet S-10

i just got this truck, it needs alot of work, but it still has no nickname. What would be a cool nickname for it? Here’s a few links to see some pictures of it.

A: with that bumper id name it buster…or like my 99 S 10..the {money] pit LOL

Q: I have a 1993 Chevrolet s-10 pickup that will not start. Can anyone help?
The truck started when I bought it and ran for about 1 month. It always started roughly and once you turned off the engine you had to wait for 1 hour or so before it would start again.

We replaced the fuel pump and after 3 hours under the truck it still would not start. I have been told there is no fuel reaching the fuel injectors. I have listened to hear if the fuel pump kicks on and it did not as far as I could tell. Thanks for any help.
I have replaced the fuel filter as well. The truck trys to start and I had used fuel in-a-can sprayed onto the injectors to get it started but it dies shortly afterward.
There is voltage to the pump, I did check that but it still is not working. No pinched or corroded fuel lines.

I know there is no fuel getting to the injectors because I took off the fuel lines at the injectors in the engine and by the fuel filter and there was no fuel at all in the lines so i would assume there isn’t any pressure either.

A: Somewhere on the fuel line to the injectors or the throttle body if it’s throttle body injected is a fitting that has threads on it.Having a TRUSTED mechanic put a fuel pressure testing gauge on that fitting will tell you if fuel is getting to the engine. If there is no fuel going to the engine then either the new fuel pump is bad or there is a obstruction in the fuel line.Having someone lie under the vehicle near the fuel pump while someone else turns the key to the ON NOT THE START position you should be able to hear the pump running or not.If the pump is running and there is pressure on the gauge then you need to start checking the ignition system.

Q: I have a Chevrolet 2000 S-10 4-cylinder and while I was driving heard a loud pop.?
I was just coming home from work when I heard a very loud POP sound underneath my truck. The sound seemed like it came from underneath the truck near the driver side (right under my feet it seemed). I cheked under the truck and didnt see anything and checked to make sure nothing was leaking afterwards. Any idea what this might be? Also I didnt see anything that I ran over on the road unless it was a rock that hit the undercarriage. Please help.

A: Make sure brakes, steering and ride seem normal.
It’s probably alright.

Q: what can i do to trick out a chevy s10?
i just got a 2003 chevrolet s-10 truck
and i really don’t know a lot about cars and trucks,
but all i know is that this one is NOT a sight to see.

is there anything i can do to it
[exterior]
to make it look really good?

A: If its 2wd lower it a litte but do it right so you retain the ride quality. Try belltech .If its a 4wd lift it a little. Put some old cammaro ralley wheels on it with the flat caps that looks good and wouldnt be just the same old ghetto look. Make it look like a muscle truck. Put a tuned exaust on it and maybe a cowl induction hood. Maybe a new paint job if it needs it. For power look at a supercharger if its a v6. Kinda makes me want one..

Q: Chevrolet 2.2 Flex?? S-10??
I own an extended cab 2001 Chevrolet S-10 with a 2.2 Liter Flex 4-cylinder. So far it has been a great vehicle with decent gas mileage and even tow capability for a small truck. I have experienced minor brake issues on extremely rough surfaces, along with the brake dust build up on the front rims and surrounding area. I am curious to know everyones experiences or what they know about the S-10 and its reliability, common problems, and anything else.

A: well the break dust build up is from your driving habbits applying the breaks to hard and waiting to the last minut to start breaking, but besides that they are very good vehicle u should get alot of mileage out of it.

Q: How do I diagnose a 97 Chevy s-10 cutting out at constant speed?
I have a 1997 Chevrolet s-10 (s10) 2wd ext. cab w/ the 4.3L V6 vortec engine and manual transmission. The truck starts easily, but it cuts out when driving at constant speeds. It seems fine during acceleration and at idle, other than some clanking sounds (not sure if this has anything to do with the problem or not), but as soon as I try to maintain a constant speed, it starts to hiccup every couple seconds. I am not experienced in auto repair, but research points me towards fuel pump and/or filter. Is there a way to diagnose this without fancy tools? A fuel pump is a lot more to replace than just the filter, so is there a way to differentiate which might be bad, if either? Other ideas???

Thanks so much.
There is NO Check Engine Light on at this time. The plugs and wires were replaced about 1000 miles ago. The truck has about 125K on it.

A: Perhaps there is a short somewhere and it is causing this problem. A good mechanic will be able to tell you what it is. but could also be something with the timing also. I would choose the cheapest route first. Then work up. !

Q: 1991 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer?
I purchased a 91 Chevrolet Blazer (S-10) on the 3rd of April, I had the oil changed on the 5th of April, 08. This morning, while on the way to take my kids to school, i noticed the oil pressure gauge was registering very low. Though the truck wasn’t running any different. I stopped and checked the oil level and it was fine. Isn’t there an Oil pressure sending unit or something like that that controls the gauges? It has been a long time since i had a vehicle of this age and type. (Though i am female i am not stupid so please if you answer don’t give any “oh shes a female” answers). I don’t mind getting my hands dirty and if i can do the work myself i will. Any possibilities will be appreciated. Thanks to all.
It has a 6cyl 4.2 engine. The oil pressure gauge has 0, 40, and 80 on it. It has been staying between just below 40 and just above it. Now, when i slow down and stop it fluctuates between 0 and about 20 and the “Check Gauges” light flashes.

A: Its running perfectly fine, just below 40 is fine,I have the same truck

Mine has 273,000 miles on it,Ive had it for 3 years now and put 40K miles a year on it, the thing you have to watch out for is the bearings, they go! The truck will give you fair warning too,it will start to sound like you have big knobby truck tires on it when the bearings need replacing. By the way, this has been the best vehicle ive ever owned!!

Good luck!

The check engine light goes on and off in mine too,and its never been a problem for years!

Q: Can a 1991 chevrolet s-10 extended cab handle a slide in camper?
i have a 1991 chevrolet s-10 extended cab, it has a V6, i want to put a slide in camper in it, and i plan on doing alot of traveling in it, have a road trip planned next summer to the east coast to the west coast, think it can handle it? heres an example of the kind of camper i want, the dry weight says 1,120..is that how much it ways with all the equipment like the water ect http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Sunlite-Truck-Camper-Ice-Cold-AC-Toilet-NO-RESERVE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem35a5fd26ccQQitemZ230418097868QQptZRVsQ5fCampers

thannnnks
i’m going to try and find the lightest one possible,, thout id add that

A: The S-10 isn’t designed for such weight. 500 lbs is what it’s rated for. Handling will be poor and gas mileage will drop by half. Go get a real truck.

Q: I have a 1993 chevrolet s-10 blazer, it is stuck in 4 wheel lo. how do I get it unstuck?
it is the electronic push button. something goes click. but it won’t engage.

A: 1. raise each wheel off of the ground with a suitable jack and jack stands.

2. place transfer case and tranny in nuetral with engine off..

3. rotate front tires by hand to relieve all gear binding.

4. start engine and electrically release 4×4 per owners manual instructions.

Does this help any?

Disclaimer: Do nothing to get run over…

Q: how do i wire windshield wipers for a 1993 chevrolet S-10?

A: The question is not informative. What part of the wiring system needs to be fixed. If your switch is broken and you are bypassing it,then just run a hot wire from the fuse block to a inter cab switch and then to the hot wire on the wiper motor. If possible you will be better off repairing back to stock so it will work properly.

Q: How did I ruin my 1993 Chevrolet S-10 Tahoe LT Blazer’s 4×4 Transmission when i drove in 4-HI on Dry Roads?
I remember.. I had a 1993 Chevrolet Blazer Tahoe LT, and i was 18 i think, and i thought “Hey, I can leave this in 4-HI all the time and get better Traction and be Safer!” .. 3 days to a Week later the Transmission was “Dead”…

. can anyone tell me how Leaving it in 4-HI all the time made the Engine be hotter (if i rememebr right, it stats at 220, overheats starting at 240, digital gauges) and then just “Had a Ruined Trans”? Something about “Its supposed to work when its Slippery?” I forgot….

A: haha i saw your answer to the other question. There are some problems with running 4HI everywhere

1) extra wear driving all 4 tires
2) different gear ratios can cause problems on dry pavement
3) turning is a bitch
4) you don’t really need it unless its crappy weather.

Q: 1993 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer fuel injection?
4.3 Vortec engine. Where is the spider injector located, and what does it look like and how do you remove it?

A: Idk, I think maybe your vehicle has a throttle body injection system?

Q: What should I nickname my new truck? **Picture Links** (‘93 Chevrolet S-10)?
1993 Chevrolet S-10

i just got this truck, it needs alot of work, but it still has no nickname. What would be a cool nickname for it? Here’s a few links to see some pictures of it.

A: with that bumper id name it buster…or like my 99 S 10..the {money] pit LOL

Q: trying to figure out if i should get a slide in camper or a pop up camper and if my truck can handle it?
I have a 1991 chevrolet s10 extended cab it has a v6, its a manual, i’m trying to decide whether i should get a slide in camper or one of those pop up campers you tow, i’m really not sure what the max limit you can haul but i’ll post some websites i found about my truck, I’d really love to get a slide in, but which one would be better?? plan on doing alot of traveling.

http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/1990-to-1993-chevrolet-s-10-pickup-6.htm

thaanks
is there any certain things i should get for my truck like curtain type of tires or any suspention ect thannnks
a slide seems really convenient, is one of those tow pop up campers a pain to get ready?, if i’m traveling you think i could pop it up in a walmart parking alot?
meant to say (slide in) answers are greatly appreciated, i’m really trying to find some answers, thanks

A: The trailer has the one advantage, you can leave it somewhere. You don’t have to secure everything if you just need to run to the store, with a camper everything has to be secured any time you move.

Q: How do I remove the windshield wiper switch?
I have a 1993 Chevrolet S-10 2.8L 5-speed with a bad windshield wiper switch. I subscribe to ALLDATADIY.com and have used the information obtained there to remove the steering wheel, steering column lock, turn signal cam, lock cylinder and everything needed to get access to the windshield wiper switch. The steering column has no tilt wheel.
I know that particular switch has a rod that goes from it, down the outside of the steering column to the headlight bright & dim switch, I have a new replacement switch already but I just can’t see how to remove the old one. I did proper troubleshooting to determine that the switch is bad and not the module on the wiper motor.
Even the information on the ALLDATA site is pretty vague and doesn’t really say how to remove the switch.

Does anybody know how to remove this switch or know where I can find useful information to get this job done? I’ve asked nearly everybody I can think of except a Chevrolet dealer but they wouldn’t tell me anyway for obvious reasons. They’re in the business of fixing cars, not giving out free information. This one really has me stumped.
Thanks in advance for any helpful information.
I already know where the rod comes through at the switch. That’s not the issue. The switch pivots there because it’s also part of the turn signal assembly. If I can figure out how to get that pivot point apart, the switch will come right out. I’ve been all over that area with a fine toothed comb and there are no retainer screws or clips. The pivot looks to be pressed in from the backside (or bottom side) and there’s no way to access that area. There’s got to be a way to remove it otherwise they wouldn’t make a replacement switch.

A: We have recently uploaded some videos on our company website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the tilt column you are talking about. They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. Although the videos are for a Chevrolet truck, the column is very similar to yours.

http://www.stolenandrecovered.com/video/index.php

I hope these videos help you. If not, please contact me again for more information.
Lastly, if you need parts to repair this column simply email us on our “Contact Us / Order Parts” page and we will get back in touch with you personally. We stock just about everything you would need to repair your car properly.

Good luck

Q: A question about ay brakes?
I have a 1993 Chevrolet S-10 pickup, high mileage, 2.8 L engine, 5-speed manual transmission. It has power assisted anti lock brakes. While I sit at a stoplight or anywhere that I have to sit with my foot on the brake, the brake pedal will very slowly sink to the floor causing the brake warning light to illuminate. Pumping the pedal will allow me to pump the pressure back up. I have checked for leaks at each wheel and along the brake lines. No leaks. The brake linings are in good condition on all wheels. Also no leaks at the master cylinder or the anti lock brake unit. The brake fluid level is ok and never changes although it’s dirty and needs flushed. The vacuum hose supplying the brake booster seems to be in good condition. I don’t know the maintenance history of the truck but I’m assuming that it has the original master cylinder and anti lock brake unit. Could this condition be caused by just a worn out master cylinder or could the anti lock brake unit have something to do with it?

I’m going to try just bleeding the brakes first, then if the problem persists, I’ll check elsewhere. Does anybody have any good answers for this problem?
I have access to a TECH 2 scan tool so setting the anti lock unit properly for bleeding shouldn’t be a problem.

A: HI
that’s a typical sign of a bad master cylinder..
good luck

Q: Car Stereo has no power?
I took out the old stock radio and before i did that the radio worked. it turned on and played music. I plugged the wire harness in and heard a pop. i think the end of the wires touched. after connecting all the wires i turned on my radio and discovered no power. then i checked the fuse box and all of them were fine. so now i have no power and no radio.the car still works just not the radio. I plugged the old one in and it still didnt work. no power. I have a 1993 Chevrolet Blazer S 10.

A: A good way to check to see if it has power is take a POWER WIRE and hook it to the yellow and red wire on the back of the cd player then hook the other end to the positive termanal on the battery than take a GROUND wire and hook it to the black wire on the back of the cd player and the other end to the negitve terminal on your battery if it dosn’t turn on then check your fuse on the back of the cd player.

        GOOD LUCK!!

Q: Where to find a free vehicle repair guide/instructions on a 1992 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup.?
I have heard of eautorepair.net, and I have tried them before, they are good, but I really don’t want to spend the money this time. Just looking for a free/cheaper way to fix something that is going to cost enough without having to pay to learn how…lol

A: Try your local Freecycle, they may have something.
Or if your not afraid to get dirty, try all your local garbage cans, they have lots of good Free stuff.

Q: How much is a 1992 Chevrolet Blazer S-10 with a locked motor worth?
I know it’s not worth a lot and I don’t expect a lot. I just need an estimated value. My neighbor wants to buy it and see if he can rebuild the motor in his spare time but I have no idea what a fair price would be.

A: I would go with a couple hundred. It will cost more to fix the motor than the vehicle is worth.

Q: What were the original features of the 1992 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup 4 Cyl. 2.5L?

A: http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/1990-to-1993-chevrolet-s10-pickup-6.htm

Q: How do I get more power out of my SUV?
I have a 1992 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer Thats in perfect condition…it has been taken care of since day one, but because its 4WD, it has a slow response at times and da tranny doesnt pull as much power to the engine as it use to anymore…now nothings wrong with it at all…both engine and transmission are in perfect working order, but i do want to get more power and better response from the engine and transmission…my question is, is ther anything i can do to make it possible!!! anything will be greatly appreciated!

thanks for looking!

A: If your transmission is putting less power than it used to, start saving your sheckels because it’s getting ready to fail.

The Blazer’s slow response isn’t because of 4wd, it’s because of its power-to-weight ratio. A 195 hp engine pulling a 4,000 lb vehicle is not going to win drag races. So your choices are shave off weight and increase power.

The biggest, baddest thing you can do to increase power in an s10 is a V8 swap. You can fit a 350 (a 5.7, for the metric crowd) where the 4.3 engine used to be, all you need is the V8 motor mounts, custom headers, and a lot of hours in the shop. If you drop in a power-built supercharged V8, you could be looking towards 600 hp.

Q: I have a 1993 chevrolet s-10 blazer, it is stuck in 4 wheel lo. how do I get it unstuck?
it is the electronic push button. something goes click. but it won’t engage.

3. rotate front tires by hand to relieve all gear binding.

4. start engine and electrically release 4×4 per owners manual instructions.

Does this help any?

Disclaimer: Do nothing to get run over…

Q: Where is the oil pressure switch located on a 1987 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer, 6 cylinder.?
This is a possibility for a short I have in the circuit but I can not find it on the block, I knows its there, I just cant locate it.

A: look behind the intake just under the distributor it should be sticking up out of the block between the firewall and intake

Q: Where is the fuel pump fuse located on a 1987 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer, 6 cylinder?

A: look on the passenger side up by the dash. some of them are there.

Q: What is the diffence between a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer and S-10 Blazer?

A: The Blazer is actually based on the S10/Sonoma pickup truck, but I remember the old Blazers were badged as the S10 Blazer because there was a bigger Blazer that was renamed Tahoe.

It’s all pretty confusing.

Q: i have an 86′ chevrolet blazer s-10 2.8 fuel injected 4×4 , do you need a certain amount of gas to crank?
i changed the fuel pump and cleaned tank how much gas does it need to crank up and do you have to prime it? if so how many times

A: I think the gas tank is smaller like 15 gallons. And shaped different so if the total was 5 gallons it would be enough to just get started. The fuel pump would run when energized by ignition switch ON. Then the pump would continue until the fuel hose is full, which then increases pressure.
The pump runs until the pressure is high enough for the fuel pressure switch and regulator.

You can turn the ignition ON until the pump stops. Then OFF. Then ON once more and the fuel pump won’t run as long because the air is out, and the pressure is high now.

Q: Where is the check engine sensor on a chevrolet blazer 1996 s-10?

A: there is no “check engine sensor”

when the check engine light turns on, it means that one or more of the sensors has sent an error code to the cars computer, that gets stored in memory. the mechanic can use this code to fix the problem.

Q: 1999 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer Problems NEED HELP !!!!!?
I have a 99 chevy blazer 4×4 automatic, I have been constantly having problems regarding some sensors? I am having problems with it burning fuel very rich, so rich it coats the ground in black exhaust and you can get a great wiff of the fumes( its wonderful, it you dont mind dieing), also problems with it turning over, sometimes I have had to pump the gas and even then it sputters and dies, after it does start my idle is only at 5 hundred rpms, give or take a few, sometimes it just jumps around, also the entire truck shakes from what appears to me to be the engine rocking back and forth( doesnt appear to be good at all to me) At first I was told it was my catalytic converter, had it replaced, not the problem, never was, told by another mechanic I needed a tune up and to replace fuel filter, wires, plugs, dist cap, rotor button, but once again the problem is still here, so I have talked with another mechanic and he tells me hes seen this before and its either the fuses or somewhere along the way the wires to my sensors were pinched when put it and all the wiring needs to be checked,( this I cannot do on my own), so once again I get advice from another mechanic and we run a scan on it, it get 4 errors,1- MAP (manifold absolute pressure) or MAF (mass airflow) condition, 2-IAT ( Intake Air Temperature) circuit, 3-Cylinder misfire and the fourth has to do with my transmission component slipping( which has been going on for a while now but does not seem to affect my truck unless I have driven for a about a half hour, when I come to a complete stop and the go it jerks into 2nd and sometimes 3rd, I was told this was a sensor in my transfer case that just needs to be cleaned? Anyways I went this morning and talked to yet another mechanic about the scan results and was told that a MAF sensor would stop all that was wrong with the exception of the transmission, so I buy this sensor and replace it, GUESS WHAT, NOOOOOO LUCCCK!!!! I have been fooling with this thing for the past year now it seems like and I have put way to much into this car to sell it and get anything near what I have put into. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. If you have any idea please feel free to let me know. batarchangeltattoos@yahoo.com

A: WOW sounds like you need to find yourself a good tech that can diagnose, and not just guess at what the problem might be.
With that said….

Here’s what you need to do. You need to check fuel pressure, it has to be 55-60 psi key ON engine OFF and hold steady. if it drops less than 50 psi within 1 minute then the problem is a leaking fuel pressure regulator. (which personally I suspect to be faulty from reading your post)
Un-metered fuel is being dumped into the cylinders, causing the rich condition/hard starting/miss-fire/shaking of the engine.
The regulator is located under the plastic intake plenum.
Any good tech can check this for you very easily and quickly.

We at the dealership charge 1 hour diagnostic fee.Maybe it’s worth it for you to take it there and stop throwing money away.

A: It is either the MAP sensor or the MAF sensor. Depending on the year this vehicle was manufactured. You see both of these sensors do the same function. Without going into the exact details that I can not write out. The cylinder misfire fault could be caused by the previous condition so for now it should be ignored.
The MAF and MAP sensor both are found inline with the air induction system after the air filter. I want you to focus on this sensor. If the vehicle is running and you tap on this sensor, I said tap not bang, and it is bad it “will” make your engine idle fluctuate.
Now there are three wires going to this sensor, “three”, trace them back and make sure they are not pinched, bare, damaged anywhere.

If this does not help you need to have a reputable mechanic focus on this issue. You have a ground coming from the computer, a 5 volt reference, and the feedback coming from the sensor to the computer. These need to be checked and verified.

I am guessing this is where your problem started.

The transmission problem is a different fault intirely.

Q: 1993 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer fuel injection?
4.3 Vortec engine. Where is the spider injector located, and what does it look like and how do you remove it?

A: Idk, I think maybe your vehicle has a throttle body injection system?

Q: 1997 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer problem.?
I have the suv listed above in V-6, 4wheel drive/4door version and am having a problem with the power door lock/power seat. I have a wiring diagram but it does not show the location of the door lock relay. Any one know the location ,also, the color might be helpful. Thanks

Q: Statistics question below…help!?
The June 1997 day’s supply of Chevrolet S-10 pickup trucks was 106 vehicles, but shortly after the United Auto Workers strike in Flint, Michigan, the June 1998 day’s supply of these trucks had dropped to a mean of 38 and a standard deviation of 16 (Newsweek, “Big, Empty Lots,” July 27, 1998). Suppose one month after the strike was settled, 150 dealers are sampled and the S-10 inventories yielded a mean day’s supply of 41 trucks. Based on this new evidence, complete the hypothesis test of : = 38 versus : > 38 at the 0.02 level of significance using the probability-value approach.

Define the parameter
Define the null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis
Specify the hypothesis criteria
Determine the results.

Please help!!!

A: Parameter is mean day’s supply of Chevrolet S-10 pickup trucks
H0: μ =38
HA: μ >38
μ = parameter defined above
σ = 16 (standard deviation)
n=150 (number of people sampled)
Find the test statistic z. If this exceeds the critical z-value with 0.02 level of significance, reject the null hypothesis and accept the alternative.
Standard error of mean = sd / sqrt(n)
SE = 16/12.2474
Standard error of mean 1.3064
z = (xbar-μ) /se
z = (41-38) / 1.3064
z = 2.2964
The critical value is 2.05
Compted z exceeds critical z; hence, reject the null hypothesis and conclude that the mean supply has increased.

Q: Statistics HARD question….anyone please help ASAP??
When workers for a auto maker go on strike, there are repercussions through the economy; in particular, dealers who sell the cars feel the pinch. Dealers like to maintain a two-month supply to give their customers selection, but when the manufacturer cant deliver the vehicles, inventories dwindle. The June 1997 day’s supply of Chevrolet S-10 pickup trucks was 106 vehicles, but shortly after the United Auto Workers strike in Michigan, the June 1998 day’s supply of these trucks had dropped to a mean of 38 and a standard deviation of 16. Suppose one month after the strike settled,150 dealers are sampled and the S-10 inventories yielded a mean day’s supply of 41 trucks. Based on new evidence, complete the hypothesis test of Ho: mean= 38 versus Ha:mean > 38 at the 0.02 level of significance using the probability-value approach.
a.)Define the parameter. b.)The null and alt hypothesis c.) Hypothesis criteria d.) Present the sample evidence e.)Prob Distribution info f.) Determine the results

A: We wish to test
Ho: U = 38
versus
Ha: U > 38
to prove whether the population or true mean supply of trucks by the dealers is greater than 38 or not. We wish to reject Ho(the null hypothesis) in favor of Ha(the alternative hypothesis) based on evidence from our sample.

The test static = Z
= (x-bar-U)/(s/√n)
Z = (41-38)/(16/√150)
Z = 2.30

We can only reject HO in favor of Ha if and only if Z>Z∞. Alternatively, We can also reject Ho if the p-value is less than that of our chosen ∞.

At our chosen ∞=0.02 level of significance,
Our chosen rejection point
= Z∞= z0.02 = z(0.5-0.48)
= 2.05

P-value for this hypothesis testing
= Area on the right ended or tailed of the test static z=2.05 under the standard normal curve
= P(z>0) – P(0<z<2.30)
= 0.5 – 0.4893
= 0.0107

Since the test static z = 2.30 is greater than that of our chosen rejection point z0.02 = 2.05, then we can reject Ho in favor of Ha at the ∞ = 0.02 significance level, based on data extracted from our new random selected sample. The p -value of 0.0107 is less than z0.02=2.05, which means that we have sufficient evidence to prove that Ha is true and Ho is false. We conclude that the mean day’s supply of trucks by the dealers is indeed true based on our sample evidence.
