Q: How much should I expect to pay for an extended warranty on a new Chevrolet Truck?
How much should I expect to pay for an extended warranty on a new Chevrolet Truck? Is it based on the price of the truck or do they just try to get as much as they can out of you?

A: It depend on a LOT of things, all of which are impossible to answer based upon as little information as a “New Chevrolet Truck”.

What model? What type of extended warranty? Will it cover the power train only, will it also include other basic systems like suspension, steering, heating/cooling and warranty? Will it be a “bumper to bumper” covering virtually every non-consumable? What will the duration be? Will it extend the original coverage to 4, 5, 6, or 7 years and/or 50, 60, 75, or 100K miles? How much of a deductible will you choose? Do you want to pay $200, $100, or $50 per incident or nothing at all? Will the warranty provide you with rental car coverage during service visits? Will the rental coverage include a “first day” option that allows you to obtain a rental car even if the repairs don’t require keeping your vehicle overnight?

Warranty plans and coverage options exist for all the above, and the price can vary widely, ranging from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand. One generally beneficial aspect of most extended warranties, however, is the ability to redeem any “unused” balance for a prorated refund, generally making buying them at the time you purchase the vehicle (although most can be purchased at any time before the original manufacturer’s warranty expires) the least expensive.

Warranties are “high margin” items and sources of profit for the dealership than can equal the profit they earn selling the vehicle itself. Though it’s impossible to provide any sort of meaningful answer based upon the limited information you’ve supplied, it’s likely that whatever initial price the dealer quotes you will include considerable room for negotiation.

It’s best to call many dealers in advance and ask for price quotes on the warranty alone, as you can buy the warranty independently from any other GM dealership, usually at any time up to the first year and first few thousand miles without any surcharge. You can then make the selling dealer a “meet or beat” offer on the warranty and simply take your business elsewhere. Also keep in mind that many dealers will not collect sales tax upon warrantees sold to residents of other states, something a dealership located in the same state where the vehicle will be registered is obligated to do, when making your “meet or beat” offer.

Best of luck. I hope this helps.

Q: I have a chevrolet truck transmission question?
I have a 96 chevrolet truck, half ton, full size rwd, with an automatic in it. it has lost reverse. I have access to a 95 transmission but the wiring harness is supposedly different. Is there any way to make the 95 work in the 96 truck such as a wiring adapter kit etc. If so any idea as to where to get such a thing. I know everything else will bolt up it is just the electronic issue. thanks for your time. chris

A: the newer trans has different computer to operate the shift you need a pro to work this out for you. the wires go in to the valve body. you may be able to use the old valve body. Go on line to ASK. type in transmission mods or, get in touch with a hot rod shop and ask about the conversion from year to year.

Q: How do you change the fuel pressure regulator in a 1998 Chevrolet truck?
The truck has a 350 v8 stock engine in it. I need to know how to uninstall and install it.

A: You have to remove the upper manifold to access the regulator block underneath. This job is best done by a professional tech, as there are a lot of things that can go wrong or get messed up when going back together.

Q: How to release the secondary latch to lower the spare tire on a chevrolet truck?
A day or two ago, I took down the spare, raised the cable back up with no tire on it.

Today, the original tire is fixed and time to put the spare back under the truck. I lower the cable but the “secondary latch” never releases.
I’ve even gone so far as to follow the INSTRUCTIONS, but to no avail.

Any input is greatly appreciated or I’ll have to suicide myself.

A: Try putting some weight on the cable when lowering. If you don’t the cable can get tangled in the housing. ( if that happened work the cable up and down while turning the winch mechanism ) I have a GMC sonoma and had the same thing happen. You could try “self-euthenization” but that will just send you to an alternate dimension completely devoid of chevys. Not cool. Hang in there kiddo!

Q: What is the correct timing position towards the harmonic balancer of a 350 Chevrolet truck?
And also I’d like to know the degrees the teeth mark. I am trying to time my truck on my own and would like some guidence. Thanks

A: Older carbed engine has a deep v=0 the point is 2 degrees
the bottom of the next cut is 2 degrees = 4 total an etc. hope this helps and has said before check the balancer for damaged rubber

Q: How do I flush the gas tank on a 1995 Chevrolet Truck?
The truck has been sitting for 4 years and I think the tank needs to be flushed. A mechanic told me that all I need to do is put in a gas treatment when I fill it up. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thank you.

A: Best bet is to drop the tank and clear the lines to get rid of old nasty gas. Then fill it up and add a bottle of fuel injection cleaner. Also after 4 years of sitting, the fuel pump is probably shot, so a new one would serve as a good starting point. I bought one from Napa, they come with the new in tank wiring, otherwise you will have to buy the wiring separate.

Q: Can anyone estimate the value of a restored 1927 Chevrolet Truck?
I have a restored 1927 Flatbed Truck. It has been fully restored but I cannot say if all parts are factory refurbs. Only that it looks amazing. Does anyone have a ball park estimate of it’s value?

A: Your best bet is to have the vehicle professionally appraised.

http://www.usaautoappraisers.com/

http://www.autoappraisal.com/autolinks.htm

http://www.collectorcarappraising.com/

Good luck!

Q: where is the starter located on a 1997 Chevrolet truck?
Can’t find the location of the starter on my pickup truck, it’s a 1997 Chevy 1500, it’s not in view site.

A: Starter is connected to the transmission. Crawl under the truck, it’ll be near the junction of the transmission and the engine. There may be a protective shroud around it, so you may have to remove it to see it, but it’s there.

Here’s a link on how to replace it: http://www.ehow.com/how_4507903_replace-starter-chevy-silverado.html

Q: what’s the best gas tank to fit under a 1957 Chevrolet truck bed from a junk yard?
I would buy a new one but they start at $400.00 I’m looking for one that won’t require a lot of modifications to bolt it to the frame. It can be from a car or a truck

A: I think you should look for a used tank of the type that was made for your truck. G.M. truck’s of the same year will probably be a bolt in fit. Don’t Jerry rig a gas tank!!! It could be dangerous.

Q: Where can I find some ONLINE INSTRUCTIONS in reference to sanding and coating my 83 Chevrolet Truck?
It has some surface rust but overall no rustholes. I would like to sand the whole truck down, section by section. Then I would like to follow behind with a nice black primer. I have plans to possibly pay someone separately to take care of the small dents and dings with least bond possible. I should be able to make progress, could use some tips, what should I watch out for, whats a nice fair priced black primer. What about the grits of the sandpaper(s) to be used. I plan on using a compressed air powered orbit type sander

A: there’s not any real good sites on doing this, there are a lot of books on it you can buy and read up on though that will help you a lot,but mostly all the sites that was free now want to sell you a video of how to do this, and its cost around 20 bucks for this, your better off with the book, basically i think by the time your done you will have wished you paid someone to do it,good luck with it.

Q: How do I change the ignition tumbler on a 1966 Chevrolet truck?
I am not sure how to remove the old lock. I have removed the switch but am not sure if there is some kind of release to remove the tumbler. Thanks
I have the original key but it is stripped. I have a new tumbler to replace it but need to remove the old one. When I tried to pull the tumbler out in the run position it would not come out. Is that because it is stripped? Thanks for your previous answers. They were very helpful.

A: replace the entire cylinder, if you want the original key then take the cylinder and key to a locksmith

Q: what kind of transmission is in my 2001 Chevrolet 1500 truck?
i have 2001 Chevrolet truck, 5.3 Lt 327 v8 ext cab 2wd and i was wandering what transmission is in my truck size and everything

A: Should be a 4L60E The best of my recollection………….UJN

Q: How does a 2003 Chevrolet Truck (it has a 12vdc pump attached to the booster)how does this pump turn on & off?
Silverado 1500 5.3 engine 12vdc vacuum pump at brake booster
Silverado 1500 5.3 engine 12vdc vacuum pump at brake booster
I don’t know how to respond to answers but yes it is a vacuum pump with 6 electrical wires going to it. Not a hydro boost.

A: Are you sure ??? Are you talking about the hydro boost system that they use. It just runs off of the power steering pump.

If there is a pump, an air pump it would have to have a fuse and a relay and if it is for the brakes it would ONLY turn off with the key because it better be on when the truck is running or your not stopping

Q: What is the difference in a gov-lock and a trac-loc in a 1994 gmc or chevrolet truck??
also,what is a good place to look for a cheap locker for a 1994 chevrolet 1500 4×4??
also i am looking for a locker for both the front and rear..

A: There is not a locker or limited slip unit available for the front differential in the 88+ half-ton truck. The diff housing is aluminum and too weak to handle the stress. The half-shafts aren’t really up to the task either. There is a locker available for the front of the 3/4 and 1-ton trucks, but they are a very efficient way to break the half-shafts.

The GovLok is a GM thing, also called the Grenade lock. It is the G80 RPO option code that was available from the factory. They are called the grenade locker because of the way that the work. A wheel spins and it harshly engages. They are known for snapping axle shafts on 10bolt rear axles…

Trac-loc is an aftermarket style locker, and better than the Gov in my opinion. Also look at Detroit lockers. I’m not sure what your after, a full blown locker, or a limited slip unit. Research for each model can be done online.

Q: Which year and model vehicles can be used to convert to disc brakes on a 1966 chevrolet truck?
I will use the A-arms with disc brake spindles to convert from drum to disc brakes. Don’t think I need a cross member.
Looking for a conversion without modifications

A: LMC Truck offers a kit to convert the front to disk brakes. It will be more expensive than used parts, but it takes all the guesswork out of what parts are needed.

Q: Looking for a used Chevrolet truck! In Arkansas?
What I’m looking for is a Chevrolet Silverado, year 1999 to 2003, sportbed or step side, or even regular bed.. Please let me know if you know or have a truck like this for sale somewhere in Arkansas or close to Arkansas within reason. Thank you much!

A: HAHAHAH a used truck in Arkansas. I bet that’s hard to find.

Q: Looking for a used Chevrolet Duramax truck?
Want to buy a 01 or 02used Chevy crew cab diesel 4×4

A: Go to your local GM dealer and see if they can get you one. I’m sure they can since there are a ton of those trucks on the road.

Q: Which year and model vehicles can be used to convert to disc brakes on a 1966 chevrolet truck?
I will use the A-arms with disc brake spindles to convert from drum to disc brakes. Don’t think I need a cross member.

Q: What is the unladen or shipping weight of a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck?
What is the unladen or shipping weight of a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck? I need this to register this used truck I bought.

A: According to my NADA Guide, the “weight” of the truck is 3003.

If your truck has the VIN plates on the door/cab pillar on the driver’s door, the weight is also listed there, and it’s also on the title that you -should- have gotten from the seller.

Q: Whats a better pickup truck a Chevrolet S-10, Toyota Tacoma, or a Nissan pickup?
I need to buy a used truck for my landscaping business but I don’t know which one would be better?

My friend is selling me his 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck xtra-cab manual transmission, 4 cylinders, 150k miles for $2,700.00 do you think it’s a good buy?

A: Its all about maintenance. If you take care of it they last. If not they don’t.

If you manage to get 10 mpg in an S10 something is wrong with it.

Q: why do used chevrolet suburban sell so much cheaper than a comparable chevy truck ?

A: Because the gas milage is even worse in a burb…It,s alot heavier…You can use a truck for many uses..A burb is good if you are the brady bunch…

Q: hi every one, what do you advice me to find the best way to buy a moving used truck 17″ box from 1996 to 1998
i have to make a trip from farmingdale long island 11735 n.y. to mexico city; about that i wanna buy a moving used truck 17″ box 1998 automatic transmission, diesel e-350 or e-450, ford or chevrolet in good conditions and very well maintenance. thanks for your answerers.

Q: Whats wrong with my Chevrolet truck?
I have a 2000 Chevrolet K2500 with a 4L80E transmission and there is a problem with the shifting. When Im driving highway speeds and my truck faces some resistance (i.e, hills, stiff wind), the truck will downshift and not shift up again. All of the other gears will shift just fine except overdrive. Then, when I shut the truck off for a couple minutes, and restart it, its almost as though nothing happened, shifting just fine. I have done valve bottle work using a TransGo kit, replaced the front and rear speed sensors and still nothing. My next guess is torque converter. The truck used to have a 5th wheel behind it and that is my reason for guessing torque converter. The lead tech at our local dealership suggested a replacement transmission but, thats $3200 so, anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
P.S I changed the transmission fluid, and filter while I already had the pan off. And the code is a P1870 (Transmission Slippage Detected)

A: Overdrive in your vehicle is actually a converter lock up that is accomplished be means of a lock up solenoid. This in essence gives you a direct drive ratio and it takes place in the converter. Sounds like you are on the right track with a converter lock up problem. hope this helps.

Q: I’m Compare truck between Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge.?
I’m look for a pickup truck with 8 feet bed, 4 X 4, super cab. Used or new, I don’t care.. I hear that new production model tend to have problem..cheap gas mile( is that possible), So i probably prefer used truck.. tell me what pickup truck you prefer: Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge and why?? and also the years, some new truck tend to have problem..please respond only if you know about truck or you own one…. I love truck since middle school. I’m first time buy, I’m planner to buy one this years. so help me out… I really like how the way Dodge truck look like, but Dodge transmission problem is screw thing up.. ..
I’m only look for a pickup truck with 8 feet bed, 4 X 4, super cab

A: I go with Ford. Have never had a problem with Ford. My family have all had chevy’s and they ALWAYS have problems. Whether its the U-joints or transmission or the belts. Its always something with Chevy’s. Dodge’s are not the greatest. For some reason, they still havent figured out how to build a dependable car. Ford is the best choice, in my opinion. We went through so many Chevy’s and all of them had problems, both the trucks and SUV’s. Me and my father switched to Ford and havent had any problems. I have a 99 and my dad has an 01. Both great vehicles. Good luck in your quest.

Q: Which truck is the best choice for me?
I am looking to buy a new or used truck in the next two months (preferably used) and i was wondering which truck between the chevrolet silverado, or the f150 crew cab is the better choice? 2004 and up. Which is more reliable and will last me the longest time? Which has better gas mileage, which is cheapest to replace parts? Someone with personal experience with these trucks would be nice. I also want to spend under 12k. Thank you =]

A: Actually, you could get a 2006-2007 Nissan Titan for under $12,000. It can tow over 9000 pounds and averages about 17 mpg (which isn’t too bad). With the Titan, you also don’t need to worry about replacing parts — that’s an American thing. Nissan parts aren’t exactly scarce, should the circumstance arise that you do need to fix something.

Q: What would you pay for this used pick-up truck?
It’s a 1979 Chevrolet C-10 longbed. It’s got a little rust on the body. It’s got a 350 engine that is six years old. Exact miles is unknown but the owner says only light to moderate use in six years.

A: $1500 and up depending on tires, glass, heater, stereo, how well it sounds & runs

Q: chevrolet luv truck strength question?
i was just wondering if the chevy luv truck would be strong enough to be used to pull a pop up tent camper and items necessary for camping, like propane tanks, camping stoves, and guns (for hunting), etc. if not what truck would be strong, but yet has good gas mileage and is small.

thanks, jak
would a 4 cylander be enough for this kind of thing, and pulling a pop up?

A: 4 cyls are fine for a weekend gardener, if you are going to be hauling and want good fuel economy while towing, get a Silverado, its better on fuel overall, larger motors do not work as hard therefore improving towing miles per gallon, some will say differently but I have owned and driven a variety foreign and domestic and the larger truck performs best overall

Q: I have a 93 model k2500 series chevrolet truck and I am trying to remove the front brake rotor. It is stuck?
I have already removed the large locking nut and cannot get the rotor to come off? I have been beating it with a large hammer to try and break it free but am having no luck. Is there some type of puller that I should be using?
Thanks for help
Clevan

A: If there is nothing else holding it on but rust, get a torch and cook it.

Q: Bad Quality Sound When I Plug My IPod Nano Into AUX Input In 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Truck?
The quality is alot less vrs a CD. I am using the factory installed AUX input jack in my factory stereo and a Griffin TuneFlex. It plugs into my 12 volt lighter plug, then a cable from there to the AUX on my stereo. My IPod snaps into the Griffin TuneFlex. Any ideas on why the sound quality is so bad? Thanks for any help.

A: Other people aren’t very happy with the Griffin.

http://store.apple.com/fi/reviews/TQ076ZM/A?n=ipodnano2&fnode=MTY1NDA2MQ

See how it sounds without the Griffin- just patch the iPod to the AUX input and run it on its own batteries. Let the iPod sit in a cupholder. Start with iPod volume low and increase until it sounds right.

Q: Could GM change the truck they use in the Craftsman Truck Series if they choose to bring this beast back?
http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/2011/chevrolet/elcamino/elcaminohans.html

http://www.leftlanenews.com/el-camino-to-return.html

I don’t believe it, but the more I look into it, the more I think it’s going to happen. The El Camino could be making its return to the GM line in the United States for sale as soon as 2009, or as late as 2011.

Is this just a creative way to lose money? or do you think GM will have success in bringin’ back the El Camino?

I have always loved El Caminos.. they had there distinct uglier models as well, but I still ALWAYS wanted one as a kid growing up. (I also had the notion I’d have a Harley Davidson to put in the back lol)…. Anyways, Just wanted everyone elses input on if they think this venture would sink or swim for GM?

AND… If it did happen, could GM use the El Camino in the Craftsman Truck Series? It’s considered a truck… I think

A: Unfortunately, every sanctioning body I have dealt with has considered Elkies, and Rancheros as neither cars nor pick-ups. That really sucks, because I thought I had a really good way to “cheat” with my aerodynamics, making the bed of a Ranchero nothing more than a giant wing.

BTW, that’s not a bad looking vehicle, but I’m still partial to Ford’s Falcon Ute down under!!!

Q: Pros and Cons on 03-06 Chevy Silverado’s?
I’m getting my first truck and I can’t decide which one. Which chevy silverado should I go for?

http://www.carsforsale.com/used_cars_for_sale/2003_Chevrolet_C1500_110074827_30
i hate when they dont tell you the price. even if you email them

http://autos.yahoo.com/used-cars/Chevrolet-Silverado+1500-cars327358924
Which would be the 2 wise picks?

A: Well the v6 will not tow around alot of weight….You should buy a 4×4 because resale is higher than a 2×4…..I,d get a duramax 2500….You,ll always have enough power and diesel is cheaper than gas.

Q: Chevrolet Xtreme s10 4 dr extend cab pickup?
I want to buy this truck at the beginning of the year so if anyone knows someone that has one for sale or may be thinking about selling one, I need it bad!! I used to own a 2003 xtreme Blazer and I totaled it. Now I am in love with the Xtreme pickups. 4 dr extend cab is just perfect for me. If you don’t know someone who wants to sell, if you know a good website that may have one. Thanks

- here’s a good website to look for real good, affordable and quality vehicles from official government auctions!

I bought my Honda Accord 2005 for just $2250 with a milage of 5,270!
And it’s been already a year I’m riding my car and it’s still doing well! I’ve recommended it to my friends and all of them are enjoying their used cars and have no problem with it!

One of my friend was very lucky. He got a tuned sports car for just $970!

ADDED: I just found out that it’s been featured in Auto magazine and they received good editorial reviews!

Q: 1999 Toyota Camry Solara. Are these good cars??
I recently looked at a 99 Solara for sale, recently. The only thing is that it has 150,000 miles, and it is an older car. However, Toyotas are known for their reliability and ability to reach 300,000 miles no problem with proper maintenance schedules. It is a really nice car, nice interior, nice running, test drove it, and it drove really swell. It is a 4 cylinder, automatic transmission two door, with leather interior, and I currently have a 1997 Nissan Sentra with 162,000 miles which I have had for two years, which I also bought from the same dealer who is selling this car. I have never had any problems with this dealer before, as my parents have bought cars from him from years, used. my dad purchased a 1996 chevrolet 1500 with 155000 miles and it lasted till 239000 miles until he got rid of it and bought another truck from the same dealer. should i buy it??

A: I own a 1999 Toyota Solara… I bought it 3 years ago with 150,000 ( kinda funny huh ) well I have had absolutly nooo problems. I love it, I used to have a 1991 Toyota Camry that I bought in 2000 and it ran forever without any problems.. i mean none! just change the oil every 3 months and do regular maintenance! get a carfax report just to be sure its not had any major accidents but I will never buy anything but a Toyota ever again… I have had several other cars inbetween my toyotas and have always ended up with some type of problem.. these however have not had any!!!!! I really reccomend getting it!!

Q: Are you looking to by a new or use car in the DC/VA/MD area? Let me know!?
If you are looking to buy a car and have yet to find a dealer you can trust. Or, if you know some one that is looking. Then look no more! My name is Larry Drew and I sell Chevrolet, Acura & Lexus. If you are looking for a sales person then I am your man! When shopping for a new or used car you will need a good understanding of the vehicle you wish to by. With the knowledge that I have about this industry I will do my best to make sure you dive away in the car, truck, SUV or mini van of your dreams. If you and/or your partner are looking to buy soon give me a call! I can be reached by the information below. I look forward to working with you soon!

A: Wow… wall of text for the lose… but at least you gave real information so that’s a bonus

I’d vote for the Saturn SL1. I owned one for a long time- bought it in 2001 with 67k miles on it, sold it in 2005 with 196k miles on it. Never had any trouble, got almost 40 mpg out of it on highway, cost me nothing to insure and I probably spent less than 2 grand on maintenance in the four yeas and 130k miles I put on it. I miss my craptastic old Saturn.

Grand Am- not bad but that’s a lot of miles and the motor may need serious work soon.
Troopers are awesome- last forever but the parts and labor are getting hard to find now as they’ve been out of production for a long time.
Dodge Neon- sucks. Just sucks. Avoid these. noisy, break a lot, ugly… just avoid them.
Blazer- not a bad truck but crap on mileage and the high miles on this one might mean it will eat a lot of your money for maint.
Chrysler T&C- lol… just lol…
Lincoln- You don’t want a 200+k miles car. you just don’t. And certainly not a Ford.
Ranger isn’t a bad option either if you’re game for a truck.
The sable doesn’t look too bad either- shouldn’t be a bad car to maintain, doesn’t have a lot of miles for its year.

I’d look at the sable and the SL1 personally. Happy hunting.

Q: Truck for sale? Star me if u think this funny =)…?
A fifteen year-old boy came home with a new Chevrolet Avalanche and his parents began to yell and scream, “Where did you get that truck???!!!” He calmly told them, “I bought it today.”

“With what money?” demanded his parents. They knew what a Chevrolet Avalanche cost.

“Well,” said the boy, “this ! one cost me fifteen dollars.” So the parents began to yell even louder. “Who would sell a truck like that for fifteen dollars?” they said.

“It was the lady up the street,” said the boy. I don’t know her name – they just moved in. She saw me ride past on my bike and asked me if I wanted to buy a Chevrolet Avalanche for fifteen dollars.”
“Oh my Goodness!,” moaned the mother, “she must be a child abuser. Who knows what she will do next? John, you go right up there and see what’s going on.” So the boy’s father walked up the street to the house where the lady lived and found her out in the yard calmly planting petunias! He introduced himself as the father of the boy to whom she had sold a new Chevrolet Avalanche for fifteen dollars and demanded to know why she did it.

“Well,” she said, “this morning I got a phone call from my husband. I thought he was on a coffee break, but learned from a friend he had ran off to Hawaii with his mistress and really doesn’t intend to come back. He claimed he was stranded and asked me to sell his new Chevrolet Avalanche and send him the money. So I did.”

(PS: Are women good or what?)

A: Wish I could get a deal like that !

A star is born !!!

I thought he was on a business trip, but learned from a friend he had run off to Hawaii with his mistress and really doesn’t intend to come back.
(Are women good or what?)

A: now thats funny cheers mate

Q: Did Chevrolet make a 305 SS truck in 1990-93?
Someone was telling me about an early 90’s chevy truck that is for sale, they described it as a black 305 SS chevy shortbed. I know they made a 454 SS, but have not heard of a 305 SS. Anyone else heard of one?

A: It is a faker truck. Probably made up to look like a 454SS, but has a 305 under the hood instead.

Q: I need a Chevrolet truck guru?
My husband has a 1986 chevy c30 dually that was formerly a sweeper truck. He installed a 73-87 fleetside bed. Rear wheels fit under the bed, but there is a 5″ gap between the bed and cab. He is going to narrow the floor and widen the wheel wells, which looks nice. Today he saw a dually for sale, same year, and measured the space from the front of the bed to the front of the wheel arch. Both measure the same. Anyone know why there is a difference? He said he didn’t see any holes in the frame where someone relocated the rearend. Any ideas?
Yes, he just went and checked the vin and it is a 1986.

A: Hmmm. Are you sure it is an 86? The 88 and 89 one ton pickups came as a cab and chassis, and were the old body style. (Looked like 87 and before) The rear axle was back a little farther. I put a bed on one, and when the opening was centered over the rear wheels, it left the gap that you are talking about between the bed and the cab. I had a welder build a nice headache rack that cam up off the frame, matched the curves of the bed, painted it to match, and it looked very nice. It would make you look twice, but wasnt bad.
Thats odd. i guess i dont really know, maybe for a couple years prior, if it was ordered from the factory as a cab and chassis, they may have had a longer wheel base. I guess its possible, as people rarely put beds on them. They usually got flat beds, or utility boxes, or some other thing, like wrecker beds. I would think you would be better off to deal with the space in there, as opposed to trying to move the axle forward, thats probably a pretty fair project. Hope ive helped at least a little.

Q: Does anyone know the 1960-1966 Chevrolet -GMC truck interior color code?
I am restoring a 64 c-10 back to original. The correct color is a light gold / bronze color. Every 60 -66 model I have ever seen was this color. I have factory paint chips, But no interior color is are included.
Tried numerous paint stores to no avail. There is no code on the trim tag for the interior , only the exterior. I have found this paint for sale for about $150. per quart through a online restoration supplier, But I will go there as a last resort. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A: there are factory option color codes online with chip ID I used it on my 57 to get the bright metallic mint green interior back to stock it took napa paints a few tries but i ended getting it right for only 32 dollars

A: Lol at this being in “Marriage and Divorce”: are you going to buy it with your divorce settlement money?

Q: I want to buy a Chevy!!?
I want to buy a 2000-2003 Chevrolet 4×4 Blazier with Two doors…
I cant find this truck for sale anywhere! I live in South Texas.
Any Ideas?
This is my dream truck!

A: here is a nice one in spring tx

Q: Anyone interested in these or other parts? Parting out.?
Truck for sale: 1992 Ford F150 singlecab. Needs motor. Will sale for $1800 OBO

I am parting out the following auotomobiles:

1996 Ford Explorer
$775 for motor; Transmission $600

1997 Chevrolet Silverado
Very Clean. V8 Vertec 3.0 motor. $900 Interchangeable.

A: This is not the place to advertise. By doing so you are in violation of the Yahoo answers terms of service!!

You may try eBay, or an ad on Craigslist.

Your prices are also way way too high! They are well above the market value!!

Q: Is there anywhere online to find programming instructions for keyless remotes for a chevrolet silverado?
I’ve got a new remote from a garage sale that an old lady had and she didn’t have the instructions anymore. When i bought my truck the book was gone and I don’t have mine. Is there a website by GM somewhere or is it posted anywhere ???

A: You don’t program the remote. You program the cars computer to accept the remote. Post the year of the vehicle and I could probably help you out as GM doesn’t like to give out service info for free.

Q: Unpaid Auto on Ebay, Buyer wants Paypal deposit back?
Ok. I sold an 1968 classic chevrolet truck on ebay for my decease great grandfather. Auction ended june 26th. Buyer had 48 hours to submit $200.00 by Paypal the remaining balance will need given once pickup truck from me with money order or cashier check or cash. My description says on ebay as followed. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250448198165&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESOX%3AIT. I even said the truck was **as is sale** please come by and see truck before purchasing/bidding on it. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Ok. i didn’t have problem with Paypal deposit. I got that. Ok. Ebay buyer calls me and tells me that he was picking up truck july 3rd. Ok. I wasn’t there to meet him I had to work that morning. My uncle was there and Ebay Buyer told my uncle the truck had items on it he didn’t like, for instance nick nack (as I explained in my description). Buyer also state the truck didn’t have any oil in the oil pan and he wants to know if he could get his $200.00 back and he would come back and purchase that afternoon after i get off work (because i had the title and keys on me). That being said. I call the buyer and see what the deal is after i got off work. I even specify time to meet him after work to my uncle house. I waited, waited, waited until it got dark from 2:30pm to 9:30pm. Ebay never came or answer my phone or emails. So, what should I do? Do i give him his money back? If so, what about my ebay fees i paid in the amount of $125.00 and some to Ebay and Paypal. Will I be recovering my money. Or once i file an upaid strike against him on after July 6th. Will I get my fees i paid back or who gets what?

The buyer had 10 days after june 26th to submit payment in full. July 6th is the last day. I will file an unpaid strike on the $611.00. But, what should I do? Who is being fair here? If i choose to sell it to the second offer on ebay will i still have to pay fees on that as well, ($125.00), again?

PLEASE HELP!!!
*Ebay buyer never answer any of my calls or emails.

A: you will be refunded for the entire amount and if you sell your truck to the second highest bidder both paypal and Ebay will take their pecentage etc from the amount you get fromthe 2′nd buyer.
This has caused you alot of inconvience and i should know because i was an Ebay power seller for a year or so;
I am just a plain ole Ebayer now i think i buy more than i sell.

As for your first buyer go ahead and file an unpaid item dispute against him or her so the rest of us Ebayers can see his feedback score.

Thanks

A: Look in www.autotrader.com

Q: What would the monthly payment be for a new Chevrolet Avalance Truck 5 year loan?
It costs about 35K. I am asking about financing it.

A: use yahoo calc. on money. I sure would not waste money on a Mexican made product. But if you like to lose money get it.

Q: Buy a New Chevrolet silverado 2009 1/2 ton or a 1936 Chevrolet truck restored 1/2 ton?
im saving up for my first vehicle im looking forward to buying it within a few months when i get my licence and turn 16 i want a chevy truck… im a chevy fan what ive been wondering if im a complet idiot for buying a 1936 completly restored truck for $17,500 no one in my family hase ever owned any thing that old but i really love the way the front end looks with the super glossy black pain ( i know thats not the origanel paint they used to use flat paint but i like it ) what kinda things should i look out for when i buy it? (if i do) or would it be smarter to buy a brand new 2009 chevy truck for $16,500?… i kinda love the way the 1936 looks…. and i heard since itsa classic the insurance for it is drastically cheaper… and i can get classic licence plates ;D

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net

Q: where can i find a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado regular cab cowl induction hood for the new body style truck?
I have a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado regular cab new body style truck and i am looking for a cowl induction hood that is kinda cheap instead of like 650 bux hoods thanks

A: Try California Parts. On their web site.

Q: Where can I get a replacement key for my 2008 Chevrolet Truck? Lost mine, can dealer make a new one?
Please be specific. Thanks!

A: Yes a dealership can make you another key .You will need to have the title to the truck or a copy of one.The title is mainly for proof of ownership, plus they will need the vin# to cut the cut. Your looking at around 20. bucks to have the key made as long as the key doesn’t have a chip in it. If it has a chip then your looking at around 150.bucks for them to cut the key and reprogram it, plus you will need to take the truck to them as well.

Q: How much are extended warranties on new trucks?
How much should I expect to pay for an extended warranty on a new Chevrolet Truck? Is it based on the price of the truck or do they just try to get as much as they can out of you?

A: It depends on the repair record of the vehicle, the length and mileage of the warranty, and if you are warranting it bumper-to-bumper or just the powertrain. Expect $1,000 and up for any extended warranty.

Q: Would a set of newer chevrolet truck tail lights (03-06) work on a older model chevrolet (88-98)truck?
they look the same other than the fact that there square but as far as the rim where it meets your tailgate and bed, they look like they would…just figured i’d ask see if anyone else would happen to know.

A: No. The ‘03-’06 is a different body style. The taillights do look similar, but if you look closely the ‘88-’98 lights are completely square where the light meets the bed side. The ‘03-’06 lights have a slight angle. I think that the ‘03-’06 lights may also be bigger overall.

Q: What should I nickname my new truck? **Picture Links** (‘93 Chevrolet S-10)?
1993 Chevrolet S-10

i just got this truck, it needs alot of work, but it still has no nickname. What would be a cool nickname for it? Here’s a few links to see some pictures of it.

Q: Classic car and truck question?
I own a 1987 Chevrolet full-size pickup truck that is about to become a classic in a few years. My question is how can I find out, if it is the last of its kind. ’87 was the last model year for the rounded line style pickups. My particular Chevy truck completed assembly in June of 1987, at General Motors manufacturing plant in St. Louis. This is significant because the all new Chevrolet trucks for 1988 started showing up at dealerships in June. This is the only information I have been able to find out using the VIN number and the manufacture’s date on the drivers door. I don’t know if the GM plant in St. Louis still exists or how I can find out, how to tell if the truck is the last one to roll off the assembly line. ANY Information would be helpful. Thanks!

A: you can take the numbers off from it and have them run through G M web site,,and they can tell you the production number of it,,and how close it is to being the last one,,or if it is the last one,,other than that,,there are not many good sites that have accurate information on them,,year one don’t know for sure,,nor does any other parts supplier,,only gm has the exact numbers,,it may take you a while but you can find this out,i did it on a corvette through gm,,and they hit it right on the head,,come find out i had the second vette built that year,,i hope you find out maybe this will help.

Q: 89 chevy 5.7 litre truck wont start after new fuel pump installed what can i check to see why it wont start.?
I have installed a new fuel pump on 89 chevrolet 5.7 litre truck and it wont start. Any suggestions in what to check for, or solutions… could use some help with this….

A: I own a shop, and think this; Did it run before you changed the fuel pump? If not, then do this; Remove the gas cap, and have someone work the ignition switch while you listen to the gas tank to see if you hear the pump come on when the ignition switch is turned on. If not, did you leave the ground wire off the pump? Is there power at the tank when the switch is turned on? If not, then the pump is wired through the oil pressure sending unit, and does not have a safety switch the Ford guy was telling you about. It works off the oil pressure switch, and is not like a Ford. Somewhere around the brake booster you will find a wire that goes to the fuel pump, and is a test wire. Hook 12 volts to it, and see if it comes on then. You can remove the snorkle, spray about 4 seconds of carbrutor cleaner into the throttle body, remove the can, and try to start it, and if it starts for a few seconds, you have a fuel problem. There is a valve on the fuel rail that is there to check fuel pressure with, and its like a tire valve. If you push it, it ought to spray fuel everywhere so be careful. Look at the fuses, and the relay. Another thing that is bad to give problems is the fuel pressure regulator. It could be bad, missing or not having any vacuum to it. Your connections to the new pump may not be making a connection, and I have seen several new pumps that were no good. I hate to tell you this, but you are probably going to have to drop the tank again in order to resolve the problem. If after you hook power to the test lead (around the brake booster to the fender on the drivers side) and it doesn’t power up, then something is wrong with the pump, and/or the connections at the tank.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

Q: What size factory speakers come in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado single cab truck?
What size factory speakers come in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado single cab truck? I have blown my speakers and want to buy some new ones to replace them. I can’t find my book that came with the truck and have been unable to find the info online. I just need to know what size they are. I am guessing to sets of 4X6 speakers but am not sure. Can anyone find the specs online?

A: check www.crutchfield.com if you go to car speakers and select your truck it will say what fits and where.

Q: What is a fair price to charge to sell a 1987 4X4 Chevrolet Fleetside Truck?
I have 1987 4X4 Chev. Fleetside pick-up-truck that I am trying to sell. Heavy 3/4 ton with a new motor and transmission . Everything from the grill to the transmission has less than 6,000 miles on it and put in less than 3 years ago. Paid more than $8000.00 to have all the work done on it. 95% tires and brakes. Would be good job or snow plow truck.
Needs some body work but is mechanically sound.
Need to get rid of it because it is an extra vehicle that we don’t need.

A: A 20 year old truck is not going to bring a whole lot of money. The fact that it needs body work is really going to hurt the value. Some body work could mean that it has some minor scratches and dings, but with that vintage Chevy, it is more likely that there is a rust problem!

Without seeing the vehicle, I can not put an exact figure on it, but I would guess that the truck would be worth in the $2000-3000 range in good running condition. . If the body was in very good shape, it would be worth more, but the cost of the body work will most likely exceed the increase in the value, just as the $8000 worth of work does not increase the value of the truck by anywhere near that amount!

Q: What are the differences between Chevrolet Trucks?
My friend and I are looking for a tough working and comfortable pick up truck, we wanted to get the Chevrolet Silverado, but all the trims and models are freaking us out. There are the HD1500, HD2500, and HD3500 and I do not know what is all the big differences between these 3, and the next hard part is all the trims, like the LT or LTZ or what ever. Please tell me what is the difference between all the models and trims, or any suggestions to get which one of the model and trim. Thank you.
And should I get the 4WD or the 2WD?

A: The 1500 is a 1/2 ton, the 2500 is a 3/4 ton and the 3500 is a one ton. You can get the 2500 and 3500 in the dually or singular rear wheels. The tonnage is the payload, or how much weight you can safely carry in the bed. The more payload, the more you can tow too. So if you plan on towing a boat or a trailer, find out the weight of it and buy your truck accordingly.

The LT is the middle trim. It has standard features such as cloth split front seat, A/C, cruise, CD, fog lights, etc. The LTZ is the top of the line and has leather, bucket seats, dual power seats, XM, Onstar, etc standard.

2 or 4WD? That’s strictly up to you. It depends on your needs. If most of your driving is on city pavement, 2WD will do just fine. But if you live in snow or rain country, 4WD will come in very handy. As it will if you work in construction where you’ll be on dirt and/or mud a lot.

One last thing, if you do go with the 2500 or 3500 and you plan to do a lot of towing or hauling, you might want to get the Duramax diesel. It has a lot of torque and is the top rated diesel on the market.

Q: Besides marketing, is there a difference between Chevrolet trucks and GMC trucks?
America haters need not respond, thank you.

A: GMC is kind of the higher-end than Chevy, kind of like Lincoln is to Ford….. Pretty much the same. The body is mostly the same, the drivetrain is exactly the same. Like said above, just some cosmetic stuff, different grill, steering wheel is usually different, and other crap like that.

Q: Is GMC trucks much better quality than Chevrolet trucks, or are they the same?
to me they look similar with just different headlights/taillights and slightly different looks.

but are they a noticable difference say the GMC sierra vs the Chevrolet Silverado?

A: Years ago, they gave the better options and parts to G.M.C. from the factory as standard issue parts. From about 88 on up, there is no difference at all, just a name.

Q: Concerning Wind stream’s green Chevrolet trucks public relations program?
Does anyone anywhere have any infrmation on how and where these vehicles were rebuilt, what motor, transmission, suspension and other details about them is avalable.I have only got run around answers from the windstreams ‘associates’.

A: sorry

Q: What are the different types of Chevrolet Silverado trucks?
i’m looking to get a used one as my first car, i just want a standard one with a regular back seat and regular everything. is that a 1500? what would it be called?

A: The truck with a back seat but not four doors is called an extended cab. It is available in 1500, 2500 and 3500.

Q: A Question For People Who Know A Lot About Chevrolet Trucks And SUVS
I am having a problem with my left windshield washer sprayer. it will not spray out juice for some reason but my right one will. does anyone know what the problem is and how i can fix it?
and my vehicle is a 1994 Chevrolet Full-Size Blazer, 2 door, 4 wheel drive.

A: There is only two things that will cause this problem. One the washer sprayer is clogged with dirt or bugs that have hit the sprayer while driving and needs to be cleaned. Two a washer fluid leak from the plastic hose going to the left side. You should turn the washer on and see if you see fluid leaking around the cowl panel. If you see a leak there you will need to remove the cowl panel and replace the hose.Best of luck.

Q: How many Chevrolet fleetside pickup trucks were manufactured in the 1958 model year?
What websites might be helpful in future questions of this nature?

A: This site may be of some help. Fleetside production numbers are not broken down, but the web master may be able to point you in the right direction.

Q: why would a1994 chevrolet one ton trucks clutch work when cold but not when hot?
after the truck goes down the road about a mile it won’t shift. Let it cool down and same thing happens.

A: because its no good/worn out….when hot it slips… replace it

Q: Why don’t people understand that Chevrolet Trucks are better than fords?

A: Well, for starters, there are a lot of retarded people out there and most of them are driving Fords (the blue oval of shame). The rest are too busy talking on their cell phones while driving to have any intelligent thoughts or drive worth a dam. Hope this helps to answer your question.

Q: 2007 chevrolet trucks with a vortec max engine?
FIND THE NEW YEAR 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TRUCKS WITH A VORTEC MAX ENGINE?..

A: http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/spec_engines.aspx?year=2007&make=Chevrolet&model=Silverado%201500&trimid=-1

Q: Why is Chevrolet making such ugly trucks?
I saw an ad today for a new model truck. It was utterly ugly. Is ugly what makes a man want to spend $45,000 for a pathetic vehicle?
.

A: GM sells more 1/2 ton trucks than Ford, Dodge, Nissan, or Toyota. I guess 900k-1 million people a year don’t agree.

Q: Are Ford Trucks Better Than Chevrolet Trucks? And Why Are They Better?
I’m Talkin Diesels!!! Because I Am a Ford Person and I am Always Arguing With my Buddies Because they Think Chevrolets Are Better..

A: No matter what truck IS better… a Ford guy will tell you a Ford is better. A Chevy guy will tell you a Chevy is better. And a Dodge guy will tell you a Dodge is better.

Honestly, until Toyota puts a diesel in their pickups, I would go with a 1999-200…5? (whenever they changed over from the 7.3 to the 6.0L powerstroke). I would buy any ford with the second generation powerstroke JUST because of the engine. They are great and reliable engines. If you do pick up an F250 or 350 from that year range, expect to replace your shocks and balljoints, as the OEM ones are garbage (go with Bilstein shocks and Moog HD balljoints).

In the end though I think it comes down to your personal preference, as they all have their pros and cons.

Cheers.

Q: Is there any differences between GMC and Chevrolet trucks?
I’ve always wondered if there was any technical differences between them

A: There the same trucks, just with some different body parts on them, mainly the grill . Either one of them would last you a long time. It’s easy to get parts for them when you need to replace one of them.

Q: Are Ford trucks better than Chevrolet trucks?
(please test)

A: Ahhh the age old question! It is all about personal opinion on this one. Which one do you like better? And that is your answer. I am a Ford guy, but that’s just me. Ford has been selling more F series trucks than GM sells Silverados, but Ford also includes more fleet customers than GM, so it’s not 100% accurate. Go with what you like better and you will be a happy camper.

Q: how many chevrolet 1300 series trucks were built in canada in 1952?
i want to know how many 1/2 ton trucks chevrolet produced in the canadian plant in 1952 or any other info about the plant

A: contact Chevrolet at www.chevrolet.com 1-800-222-1020
GMC at www.gmc.com 1-800-462-8782
