Q: How can I identify the Borg Warner T-5 Transmission to fit my 1989 Chevy S-10 Blazer?
I need to find a transmission for my 1989 Chevy Blazer S-10. It is a Borg Warner T-5 5 speed. Will one from a Camaro fit? What is the serial number?
A: I have the T-5 in my 1983 Camaro Sport Coup.
My engine is the 5-liter V-8 305 cubic inch.
I remember once at Jiffy Lube they did something that disabled the car (of course this was on a Friday afternoon) and it had to be towed to a dealer and I didn’t get it back until the following Tuesday.
During the service, they removed what they thought was a transmission filler plug on top of the tranny but it turned out to release the “reverse pin” or something like that and it had to be reset by the dealer.
This probably doesn’t help answer your question but I thought I’d tell the story anyway.
Here’s some info:

Q: 2001 chevy blazer S-10, can you install a higher speed rear end in it and get better gas mileage. ?
2001 S-10 chevy blazer, 5 speed, 2 wheel drive. I never use the 1st gear because of the gear ratio is way to low, can I install a high speed rear end and increase my mileage and if so roughly how much increase would be allowed.
A: Potentially you can increase your MPG with a “taller” rear axel ratio.
You could replace a 3.0 gear with a 2.50 gear set. This would mean that, at highway speeds, the engine would be rurning 2500 RPMs instead of 3000 RPMs. This should save fuel.
But if you plan on carrying heavy cargo, this will work against you. The engine would be operating below it’s peak horepower, so the Engine Control Module will widen the fuel injector pulse to try to get some more power at the low RPMs. this uses more gas. If the engine has to lug all the time, this will put additional wear on the engine.
Plus, you will need to spend probably $500 to buy and install the new gears.$500 will buy a lot of gas.
Q: How do you properly install a car seat into a 1989 chevy s-10 blazer?
Me and my husband owns a 1989 Chevy s-10 Blazer. I thought there was an owners manual in the glove box but can not find it. We are expecting out first child and were looking on how to install the car seat properly. Can anyone tell me how to do so or where I can find the information from the owners manual that will tell us this?
A: If you go to your locale fire company they will show you how to install it properly.
Q: Does my transmission on my 1987 Chevy S-10 Blazer come with or without an auxilary valve body or not?
I need to get another auto, transmission for my 87 S-10 Blazer but I cannot figure out if I need the one with or without a auxilary valve body or not. My Vin# is 1GNCT18R7H8227929. Any suggestions on how I can figure this out would be great. Besides pulling it apart.
A: You can call your vin # into a gm dealership and have them look it up. They can tell you anything you need to know about your vehicle.
Q: i have a 1988 chevy s-10 blazer with a 350 eng the trans(700r4) does not shift to overdrive?
i have a 1988 chevy s-10 blazer with a 350 eng the trans(700r4) does not shift to overdrive, what can be the problem.
A: I own a shop, and have built many transmissions in my time. Do you mean it shifts 1-2-3 and not 4, or do you mean it shifts 1-2-3-4, and then no lock-up? In the case of this transmission lock-up is considered overdrive. Check this first: Look to see if you have brake lights. The lock-up is wired through the brake light switch, so when you let off the brake it sends power to the TCC solenoid. You will want to make sure the power is going through the brake light switch and on down to the transmission. If so, and you have power to the lock-up circuit, then you probably have a bad, or stuck solenoid for the (transmission clutch converter) TCC. You can use a 9 volt battery to power up the lock-up solenoid to test it with, and you should hear it click when you apply power & ground to the circuit. You may have to pull the pan, and install a new solenoid if this one is dead. Another thing that comes to mind is; The TV cable that runs from the throttle down to the transmission may be out of adjustment, or the piston it works is sticking. Many times you can resolve a lot of issues with these transmissions by changing the fluid & filter, and add some stuff called “Lube-Guard” (in the white bottle) to the tranny. You can get this stuff at Advance Auto Parts. Don’t settle for some stuff they say “is just as good”, because it really isn’t. Don’t mess with the adjustment on the TV cable, unless you are sure it’s the problem. If it just started doing it, then you need to check this cable to make sure its working right. Open the throttle wide open, and see if you can pull any more on this cable, as you should be able to pull just a little. If you take the pan off, then set the cable this way; with a buddy pushing the gas pedal all the way to the floor, look at the valve in the valvebody it works to first make sure it is working, not sticking, and that it is flush with the edge of the valvebody with the gas pedal all the way down. If this hasn’t found your problem, then suspect the throttle position sensor is bad, or the speed sensor (if it has one) in the tail housing, and in the transfer case if its 4×4. One other thing to look at is the governor. It may be sticking, and not giving you 4th gear, if so it will have to come out to be cleaned if it doesn’t shift right after you have checked all of this other stuff. The TV cable controls the line pressure, and it may not have enough to make it shift. The govorner controls when the shifts take place, and if its sticking it won’t have one, or two of the gears. Lock-up or overdrive is controlled by the computer sending ground to the TCC when the line pressure reaches so much, and the throttle position sensor sends information to the computer along with the speed sensor to control when this ground is sent to activate the solenoid. Pretty confussing I know. One other thing is this; you could have a bad temprature sensor causing the whole mess. If the computer doesn’t know the engine has reached 100 degrees it doesn’t come out of closed loop, and you won’t have overdrive, so I have seen a stuck thermostat do this, and/or a bad temprature sensor. If it just started doing this since the weather changed back to cold, then I would take a long hard look at the temprature sensor, and the thermostat. You need at least a 190 degree thermostat in order for it to reach the proper operating temprature anyway.
Glad to help out, Good luck!!!
Q: What is the difference between fuel sending units for the engine VIN z and w on a 1993 Chevy S-10 Blazer?
I have a 1993 S-10 Blazer 4.3L V6 Vortex and was wondering if theres a difference between the two.

Q: How to remove fuel pump from 1997 Chevy Blazer, S-10?
I need to remove the fuel pump ,but I cannot get the gas tank to drop. Any suggestions?
A: Be sure the fuel filler and vent connecting hoses are LOOSE on the fuel tank nozzles before attempting to slide the tank down.
Even then it usually requires a coupla shots of PBlaster and the use of screwdrivers/pry bars to persuade the hoses to just give up and let go.
You might find it helpful to have a floor jack positioned several inches below the tank to catch the tank after successfully prying the hoses loose. The fun part is trying to keep that piece of plywood on top of the jack…
Q: Where does the “spider injectors/valve” go on a 1992 Chevy blazer s-10?
I have a 1992 Chevy blazer s-10 that the spider valve is shot on. i was wondering the location of the part and how hard it is to install a website address with good pics will guarantee a best answer rating
Extra info: it is a V-6 Vortec automatic optional 4 wheel drive
A: They are located in the intake plenum. The plug for the system is located just behind the throttle body. You will need to remove everything on top of the intake plenum and the plenum itself. It isn’t really a hard job, just time consuming.
Replace the fuel injector and the spider tubes.
Q: Reset switch for the fuel pump on a 96 s-10 chevy blazer?

Q: So I have heard that Chevy Blazer,S-10,or anything what that have to do what S-10 is garbage?
So does that mean GM’s 4.3 Liter engine is garbage and the SUV’s or Van’s (Oldsmobile Bravada,GMC Jimmy,GMC Safari,Chevy Astro) with the 4.3 Liter engine are garbage to? Also is that true about Chevy Blazer and S-10 and which one of these SUV’s or Van’s are best with the 4.3 Liter engine in it?
A: I have heard the same thing but I have know a few people to own them and they seem to ever had any major problems with them and I would go with a GMC Jimmy
Q: How do I get a new oil dipstick into an 89 chevy s-10 blazer?
I have removed the starter but the dipstick is made of steel and the hole is very small and I do not want to break the new one. It’s like I can’t even get it started.
Do I use a small torch to heat the steel of the block?
I don’t want to break or warp anything.
Help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!
A: I would take it to a mechanic. A small torch would work, but you might mess something up!
Q: 95 chevy s-10 blazer 4 wheel drive wont engage?
I have a 95 chevy s-10 blazer four door with a 4.3 vortec. When I try to engage the four wheel drive the button lights up but it does not engage. It still makes the click sound when you push the button like it is engaging but never does.
A: the transfer case is the click noise you hear and probably is engauging but your front axle actuator isn’t. most common problem is a vacuum switch on the transfercase that when shifted into 4X4 pushes on a switch that supplies vacuum to a vacuum diaphram that pulls on a cable attached to the front axle shift fork and locks the front axle. its called the transfercase vacuum switch, costs about $10, and is located on the upper left side of the transfercase. unplug the 3 vacuum hose connector and unscrew it, i think you need a 7/8″ wrench. good luck thats the easiest and cheapest place to start
